We begin this week by congratulating The Spirit of OHS on an outstanding set of performances on Saturday at the US Bands Davenport Regional contest! In prelims they earned the caption awards for Overall Effect, Best Music, Colorguard, and Percussion, and 1^st Place in their Class! They advanced to finals and had a great performance there alongside the much larger, 4A, 5A, and 6A bands! 

This week will be our other Pre-UIL contest in Robstown, at the Crossroads Marching Festival. We perform at 12:30 pm for this contest, and tickets are available at the gate for $8, I believe. (I will confirm this week) We will return to the school after we pack everything up so that students can attend the Homecoming Dance that’s being held that evening. Please see the event info below for the students’ full itinerary for that day!

The next weekend will be the UIL Region Contest in Beeville (10/18) – our performance time is scheduled for 5:15 pm. The following weekend, we do have a mandatory rehearsal after school with a guest clinician from 4 pm to 6 pm on that Friday, October 24^th, which is a Bye Week for the team, before hosting the 2A Area Marching Contest the next day. Our 3A Area Marching Contest will be held on November 1^st in Beeville.

It is a hectic sprint to the finish for the marching band students through the season. Please help us ensure that students attend all remaining rehearsals and events so we can be as successful as possible!

This is the full itinerary for this Saturday’s Contest in Robstown:

8:00 am: Run through at Stadium
10:00 am: Depart for Robstown
10:45 am: Arrive at Robstown
11:45 am: Warm-Up
12:30 pm: Perform
~1:30 pm: Depart from Robstown
~2:15 pm: Return to Band Hall for Pickup

Note: Due to sending uniforms to be cleaned the next day (Sunday), we need all students to ride back with us to school on this date.

2026 Florida Trip

If you have any questions or concerns please let me know! We are tentatively scheduling a meeting for November 11^th at 7pm for updates on the trip that we’ll need the students and a parent to attend. We’ll confirm that as we get closer to the date.
