First, thank you to everyone who came out to support us at the Robstown contest this weekend! The Spirit of OHS placed 5^th out of the 12 3A Bands competing, and 14^th overall out of the 29 competing bands. This included finishing with scores above four 5A bands! This week will be critical to our efforts to improve and be stronger ahead of our Region Contest on Saturday and the 3A Area Contest on November 1^st! Due to Homecoming, we will have less rehearsal time in the evening this week. It’s imperative we have students through those! We will be extending our Wednesday rehearsal to 6 pm to try to offset the loss slightly. 

We’re also going to add a short rehearsal from 5 pm to 6 pm on Thursday before getting ready for the Parade, which will begin at 7 pm. The Burning of the ‘O’ will follow the parade. Friday will see a pep rally at 12:15 pm, then an early dismissal at 1 pm for the district. Students need to be back at the school by 5:15 pm so we can march to the stadium earlier this week. 

We do need a ton of help in the concession stand this week as well! We have scheduled parents/volunteers from: (6pm through Half) Nia A, Vincent E, Kamron E, Nadyah B, Alexus C, Mercedes C, Iliana F, Madilynn L, (Half through Cleanup) Mia G, Bella G, Sophia G, Alysel H, Katie H, Vladimir H, and Joslyn L. for this week’s game. If you can’t attend, please get in touch with Valerie Peña or Belinda Contreras with the boosters! Additionally, if you could possibly help, and aren’t listed, we could very much use your help this week!

Finally, on Saturday will be the UIL Region Contest in Beeville (10/18) – our performance time is scheduled for 5:15 pm as the band goes for their attempt at 20 consecutive superior ratings at marching contest! We ask that the community help us out with turning out to turn the stands Blue and Gold for the performance! Should the band earn the Superior Rating, they will advance to the 3A Area contest on November 1^st.

2. Guest Clinician Rehearsal next Friday, October 24^th from 4 pm to 6 pm (Bye Week)
3. Host Area 2A Contest and Exhibition performance on Saturday, October 25^th (See next section)
4. October 31^st: Afternoon rehearsal and Send-Off performance for community 4pm – 5:30 pm Rehearse, 5:30 pm Performance and released after loading Equipment.
5. Saturday, November 1^st: Area 3A Contest

For the Area 2A Contest, we again need an army of adult volunteers in addition to our students to run it! Last year, we needed help from 10:30 am until 11:00 pm, since the contest held both Prelims and Finals. Based on Pre-UIL contest results from bands, that will probably be similar for this year. Hopefully I will have that schedule by Sunday this time next week!

It is a hectic sprint to the finish for the marching band students through the season. Please help us ensure that students attend all remaining rehearsals and events so we can be as successful as possible!

2026 Florida Trip

If you have any questions or concerns please let me know! We are tentatively scheduling a meeting for November 11^th at 7pm for updates on the trip that we’ll need the students and a parent to attend. We’ll confirm that as we get closer to the date.
