Odem Bands Schedule Week of 5-4-2026
This week brings about the close of the 2025-2026 Concerts for our students! Tomorrow, the JH Beginning Band and Concert Band will have their Spring Concert at 6:30 pm. Beginning Band members need to be on stage for warm-up at 5:45 pm, and Concert Band members need to be in the Band Hall by 6 pm. The concert begins with Beginning Band and closes with Concert Band. Students need to wear their concert black clothes for the performance. Just a reminder, concerts are mandatory graded performances.
If you have any students that are incoming 6th graders, we will have our spring band instrument drive with Music and Arts on Wednesday from 4:30 pm – 7:00 pm at the JH Band Hall. At this time, parents can discuss/set up rent-to-own plans for instruments, take care of mouthpiece/care kits for school-owned instruments, supplies/books if a family already has an instrument, etc. Mr. Williams will be available for questions at that time as well. If an older student’s family is looking for an instrument upgrade, they can also discuss step-up instruments.
All students for HS Marching Band are required to have a physical before participating in outdoor rehearsals. Typically they need them in 7th, 9th, and 11th grade years for us. They are valid for 2 years, and count for both band/athletics. Athletics has setup an opportunity this Thursday from 4-6 pm to take care of it at the HS Gym that would count for both groups. They’re $15, and should be paid with cash at the time of the physical. This is a really great time to take care of those! You may also take care of it with your family’s physician, this is the required form:https://www.uiltexas.org/files/athletics/PrePhysFormRvsd2026.pdf All students (all years) do need to also turn in the first page of this form every year. Next Monday, May 11th, we will have our final trip meeting for Florida Trip Participants. That meeting will be at 7:30 pm. (We had to push back due to recognition of band students at 6:30 pm at the board meeting that evening) All travelers must attend this meeting, and a parent/guardian must be present to complete the forms and receive final trip information.
We will then have Graduation on Friday, May 15th. We need all JH Symphonic Winds members to please join the 9th-11th Grade students in performing for that event!
UIL State Solo and Ensemble, May 22nd – 23rd, will be our final event before we leave for our trip to Florida.
It’ll be a busy rush to finish the year here! We need to confirm students who will be in town for that this week.
Just two final weeks of the school year to go here! We will send more information on final end of the year instruments next week.
2026 Florida Trip
All trips should be completely paid at this time. Please contact Bob Rogers for any questions on that. Please do remember we’ll have our final trip meeting on May 11th at 7:30 pm. All travelers and a parent/guardian must attend this meeting! Please bring insurance cards/information to the meeting. As we approach the date, just a reminder that any student age 18 and older must have a valid state ID that’s ‘Real ID’ compliant to fly.
We will go over final trip details, expected costs, luggage, etc. at that meeting. It’s imperative we have students and a parent there that night! If you have any other questions or concerns, please let me know!
