Odem Bands Schedule – Week of 7/20/2026

This week, we will begin holding daily percussion rehearsals for both the drumline and front ensemble, as well as guard and leadership sessions. We will also need all incoming new members on Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm so we can begin teaching marching fundamentals. For the Wednesday and Thursday evenings, we must have physicals on file for all participating students. (Inside rehearsals do not require them) Please make sure students attend those rehearsals so we can get off to our best start this season! Please look at the week’s schedule for the exact times of all units.

For all students, we need a current physical prior to any outdoor practices. For most students, the schedule is going into their Freshman and Junior years. If a student already has it for Athletics, we can verify that through RankOne, and it’s good – they don’t need a duplicate physical. We need those to be on file with our office or the Athletics office for all outdoor practices. Physicals are good for two years. The forms are available here: https://www.uiltexas.org/files/athletics/forms/PrePhysFormRvsd1_10_20.pdf. Also, EVERY student, EVERY year, must fill out the front page of the attached form. (They don’t need the doctor every year) Please make sure students bring whichever version of the form they need to us or the Athletics office on the first day! I will have printed versions available this week if someone needs to come by and pick one up.

The full band will return on July 27th with their scheduled sectional in the morning, afternoon full-ensemble rehearsals, and then evening outdoor practice. Our annual March-A-Thon will be Thursday, July 30th. I will have those forms available this week and will post separately about them later this week.

For attire for rehearsals, please make sure students wear comfortable shorts/shirts, and GOOD tennis shoes. NO SANDALS, FLIP FLOPS, CROCS, VANS, or CONVERSE shoes please! All shirts must have sleeves and fully cover students’ midriffs per the OEISD dress code.

We’re looking forward to seeing students! We hope everyone has had a great break, and are looking forward to a great new season!

Owl Band Boosters Meeting

We still need to fill 2 officer positions and are in need of adults to fill those roles. It is imperative that we fill these roles. Any parent/guardian or relative with a student in band, Grades 6-12 next year, is eligible, and we need parents/guardians/relatives/alumni to consider serving on the board of officers.

The Owl Band Boosters are among the most important supporters of our band program in Grades 6-12. Each year they help out with purchasing instruments, props, meals, support trips, clinicians, and more for the program. They also sponsor three $500 scholarships for seniors each year! We need to make sure we have a full slate of officers to continue to operate this invaluable group! Please feel free to reach out to Mrs. Valerie Pena, the president, or any of our current officers for questions you might have!

March-A-Thon (July 30th)

On Thursday, July 30th we will have our March-A-Thon Fundraiser. For any house in the area of the route, we will stop and perform for a $50 donation. We can also make a stop at the park or in front of the school if the donor doesn’t live within the planned route! Donations of less than $50 are also appreciated, and we seek corporate sponsors who will be acknowledged with signs in the concession stand and at halftime for the right amount. Students will be given copies as we see them, but you may find a printable copy here: https://tinyurl.com/26Marchathon . This is always an important fundraiser to begin our season with! Please help us get the word out and solicit donations to help us support our 2026 season!
