Odem Bands Schedule – Week of 8/10/2026
This week, we officially welcome all of our students back to school on Wednesday! Due to Meet the Teacher on Monday night and other schedules, the HS Band will only do our 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm rehearsal block this week. It’s important that we have every student at those rehearsals as we continue to push forward to get the show on the field!
For our Odem JH students, Symphonic Winds and Concert Band students will need their instruments to be at school on Thursday of this week. They do not need them the first day.
As we welcome our new Beginning Band students, they will need their instruments here by August 26th if they are not on order with a company delivering them to us. We will hold another instrument drive night with Music and the Arts on Wednesday, August 19th from 4 pm – 7 pm in the JH Band Hall. South Texas Music Mart is in town and a reliable company that provides quality instrument rentals. Hillje Music out of San Antonio also calls on us each week and can be contacted as well. We do ask that parents please stick to the recommended brands listed in the welcome letter; the list will be included in the handbook students receive on Wednesday. It’s imperative we do have a good instrument in each student’s hands.

Our philosophy is that every student deserves the opportunity to be in band, and we will do all we can to help by connecting with former students and used instruments, or by providing a school instrument when possible!
As a quick update for HS students, beginning the week of August 24th, we are also planning to adjust our fall rehearsal schedule to Monday and Thursday evenings, 6:30 pm – 9:00 pm this year. We’re going to do that half hour later each of those nights in place of the Wednesday afternoon rehearsals. It leaves us a few hours for students to plan sectionals before/after school/during lunch and gives students a bit more time for homework/tutorials on Wednesdays. For the first week of school, leading up to Meet the Band on the 19th, we will continue nightly rehearsals to get the drill set before our first game.

Booster Meeting
Our monthly Band Booster Meeting will take place on Tuesday night at 6 pm in the HS Cafetorium. We invite all of our parents from Grades 6-12 to participate with the boosters as they provide an amazing level of support to students in our program. From meals, to instruments, to clinician support, to trip support, to scholarships; our boosters have spent decades helping to make the experience of our students better. Please consider joining us for this meeting!
