Odem Bands Schedule – Week of 9/7/2026
This week is going to be a very busy week for the Odem Bands, with Homecoming and HS Region Jazz Auditions! First, we do have a rehearsal for the HS Band tomorrow morning from 8 am – 11 am. We ask that students please arrive by 7:45 am if possible, to help unload their instruments from the Truck/Trailer. We will be rehearsing outside at the Stadium from 8 am to 10 am, then moving inside from 10 am to 11 am. We’ll have a guest clinician in tomorrow, and need everyone to be there!
After the rehearsal, we’re going to take a lunch break, and then we’ll use any students who want to help with props from about 1 pm until 3:30 pm to assemble and paint props for the season.
Tuesday evening, we will have our monthly Owl Band Booster Meeting at 6:30 pm in the HS Cafetorium. We invite all parents of our 6th-12th Grade band students to join this group! The Owl Band Boosters are one of the most important pieces of the Odem Bands, and we hope you’ll consider coming to the meeting! We’ll be discussing our upcoming Owl Marching Invitational and the season, as well as potential plans for the following year.
That takes us to Wednesday, when we’ll invite our Alumni Band members for their Friday performance to rehearse from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm at the HS. We are asking that all leadership please attend this, if possible, to help out. The Alumni Band will be performing with our students pre-game on Friday after the Homecoming Coronation ceremony concludes.
Thursday continues the very busy week. We’ll have a rehearsal from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm, then prepare for the parade that begins at 7:45 pm. The Burning of ‘O’ will follow immediately after. We anticipate those events will conclude around 8:45 pm. Students will need to get their instruments back to the band hall after the Burning of the ‘O’ and then will be dismissed to go attend the powder puff game if they wish. (The band is not performing for the powder puff game)
On Friday, we’ll have an early release at 1 pm, with a pep rally at the New Gym at 12:15 pm. (Not the HS Gym) Students will need to be back at the school by 4:45 pm to prepare for the game. We’ll rehearse with the Alumni Band and the current students at 5 pm for about 30 minutes, then give the students a chance to get into uniforms and head to the stadium. Once we get through the Pre-Game performance, some of those alumni will join us in the stands as well, before we continue our normal Friday game performances with halftime, etc. Anyone involved in the Alumni Band, please see the email I sent last week. (If you didn’t receive that, please let me know!)
Saturday will be the Region Jazz Auditions for HS. We will meet at the Band Hall at 8 am to depart for Robstown (Seale JH). I anticipate the auditions will conclude around noon. Students should bring money for lunch on the way back.
For HS students and 7th/8th Grade Students, we need their band fees turned in at this time. We accept checks or money orders only in the band halls (no cash, please), but we can also now accept online payments via Debit/Credit Card. Please see the information below about setting up your Presto Account if you wish to pay with Debit/Credit Card. We’re finding it’s a bit of a process to get everyone onto the system, but it works well once we have all the steps in place!
As a reminder, we do have one Tuesday evening rehearsal planned for next week (September 15th) to accommodate the schedule of someone coming to help adjust our sound system.
Presto and Online Payments
We have used a system called Presto for a number of years now to send weekly emails, track our inventory, and track fees, etc. This year we have been able to link online payments for those fees. There is a video here with details on how to create accounts and use the system: https://support.presto-assistant.com/articles/getting-started-guide-students-and-parents/ You should have received a welcome email a couple of weeks ago. If you don’t see it in your email, please check your spam folder and have your student log in to their OEISD email account, as it may have gone there. You can also join via our group/organization code, odemowls (it’s at the bottom of the page after you set up your Parent account). You may have an issue if we used your email address to create the student account; in that case, if you have a second email address, you should be able to join that way.
If you have completed both of those steps and don’t see it, please email rashs@oeisd.org with your name, the student’s name, your relationship to the student, your email address, and the student’s grade. The login page is here: https://app.presto-assistant.com/ .
