Odem Bands Schedule – Week of 9/14/2026
First, we’d like to congratulate our 2026 Homecoming Queen Eva Garcia, King Milton Garcia, and 1st Runner-Ups Macy Laird and Von Barrera for representing themselves so well this past week at Homecoming! The next day we traveled to Robstown for All-Region Jazz Auditions, and we’d like to congratulate senior trumpet player AJ Contreras for making the All-Region Jazz Bands! Eva Garcia, Alex Rodriguez, and Berta Jasso were all the first-alternates in their sections, and we congratulate them as well! Last week was busy, but very memorable! We’d also like to extend a huge thank you to all of our Alumni who came out to join the band on Friday night. It was incredible to see members of the rich legacy that is The Spirit of OHS come together in that performance!
This week will be our last week without a competition until the end of the season, but rehearsal schedules will be busier. We are not normally having Tuesday practices this year, but due to the timing, we were able to get our audio tech in, so we will have a Tuesday evening practice from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. It is especially important that all soloists and front ensemble members attend this! We need everyone who is not playing in the volleyball game there to dial in our sound system as accurately as possible. Since we started bringing in this team, we’ve had a lot more consistency with that through the rest of our seasons!
On Thursday, we’ll have our Choreographer/Show Coordinator in to work with the students during our evening rehearsal. If a student is not playing football in a game, we must have them there for that rehearsal so we can use this valuable clinic time effectively!
That schedule means we’ll have Monday and Thursday 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm, and Tuesday 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. Our game is away this week in Victoria. Students will report to the Band Hall after school, where we will have meals for them before leaving as soon as buses return from their routes. I estimate we will return sometime around midnight on Friday night from that game.
Owl Marching Invitational
The following weekend, on September 26th, we will host our 5th Annual Owl Marching Invitational. We need at least one parent/adult for every student to please sign up at this link for a role that day: https://tinyurl.com/26OdemVolunteerOMI . The slots on the site are the minimum we need to run the contest, but we’ll also have additional places to use help. I will post more about that when we fill those roles. This marching contest is incredibly important in helping to support the band program – please make plans to help out. We’ll have a volunteer meeting about 3:00 pm that day, and cleanup will likely finish up by 11:30 pm. The first band marches at 6:15 pm.
Fees and Online Payments
For HS students and 7th/8th Grade Students, we need their band fees turned in at this time. We accept checks or money orders only in the band halls (no cash, please), but we can also now accept online payments via Debit/Credit Card. Please see the information below about setting up your Presto Account if you wish to pay with Debit/Credit Card. We’re finding it’s a bit of a process to get everyone onto the system, but it works well once we have all the steps in place!

If you don’t see it in your email, please check your spam folder and have your student log in to their OEISD email account, as it may have gone there. You can also join via our group/organization code, odemowls (it’s at the bottom of the page after you set up your Parent account). You may have an issue if we used your email address to create the student account; if so, and you have a second email address, you should be able to join that way.
