Welcome to a final packed week for us of 2025 with the Odem Bands! First up is the Odem JH Bands Winter Concert on Tuesday evening, beginning at 6:30 pm. Please see the information below on call times for students, and help them ensure they have the required concert attire. The Odem HS Band Winter Concert will be on Thursday at 7 pm. (Please note we did push it back a half hour to accommodate a basketball tournament) HS Band students also need to have their concert attire for the concert that night. Finally, we’ll finish off the week with the All-Region Band Clinic/Concert on Friday/Saturday for the members who have successfully made the groups.

Mentioning that, we would like to congratulate the 16 Odem HS Band members who successfully auditioned for the All-Region Bands on Saturday! Three students, Benjamin Castañeda, Eva Garcia, and JJ Gomez, advanced to the All-Area Auditions in January. We congratulate Eva Garcia for earning 1st Chair Trombone for the second consecutive year! We congratulate all of the students below on their outstanding results, as well as all of the students who participated! I have listed the full results below in the Region Results section. 

All of those students, plus the JH All-Region members, will travel to Kingsville on Friday and Saturday for the region clinic/concert. I will post the full itinerary and details below in the All-Region section. Please do note that JH students will need to be picked up on Friday evening in front of the high school, and dropped off there on Saturday morning for departure. Both HS and JH will be traveling together this weekend, and due to the gym construction, it will be easier to have everyone in one place.

Finally, I want to make sure that I share that today (Sunday, December 7^th), at 7 pm, The Corpus Christi Wind Symphony, a group Mr. Rash performs with (along with a couple of alumni and Mr. Kippy), will have a free holiday concert at Del Mar College’s Richardson Performance Hall. This concert would meet the requirements for an HS student seeking the Texas Music Scholar Award, and it would also be an excellent performance for all our students to see! The group has about four performances each season, and we’ll include information when performances approach. 

Concert Attire

All groups from Grades 6^th-12^th have the same concert attire requirements.

Ladies: Black Blouse/Black Slacks/Dress Shoes (Blouses need to have some sort of sleeve that extends past the shoulder and should not be low cut)

Gentlemen: Black Long Sleeve Button-Down Shirt, Black Slacks, Black Dress Shoes (or HS Marching Band Shoes), Black Belt, and Black Socks.

JH Winter Concert – Tuesday

Please remember that this is a mandatory, graded performance for all Grade 6-8 students in the Odem Bands! All students will need their concert attire. Call times for students are:

Odem Beginning Band: 5:45 pm On Stage
Odem JH Concert Band: 6:00 pm HS Band Hall
Odem JH Symphonic Winds: 6:30 pm Outside Patio/HS Band Hall

We will open the doors for parents/audience around 6:10 pm.

HS Winter Concert – Thursday

Please remember that this is a mandatory, graded performance for all HS Band students. Students need to wear their concert clothes for this performance and be in the Band Hall for warm-up at 6:30 pm. The concert will begin at 7:00 pm, and students need to stay afterward for a few minutes to strike the stage. 

All-Region Band Schedule and Results

Students will depart after lunch on Friday for their rehearsal at TAMUK in Kingsville. We will return with them by about 9:30 pm for pick-up at the high school. We will have pizza for dinner that evening.

Saturday morning, they need to bring their concert clothes with them and be at Odem HS before 7 am to depart for TAMUK. We’ll feed them lunch, and then the concert schedule is a little different this year. Junior High Region Bands will still perform in Jones Auditorium, while the High School Bands will be performing next door in their newer performance hall. Our HS students will perform first, and then the JH performances will take place next door. Students need their standard Odem Concert Clothes for this performance!

We encourage parents to watch students perform, then sign them out and take them out to eat to celebrate!
