The year is already well underway here, and we’re heading into the quick pace of fall! This weekend, we will have six high school students auditioning for the All-Region Jazz Bands – please see the information below for those students. Friday will be an away game versus Aransas Pass before that. This week will also see the first pep rally for our junior high students on Thursday, and a band booster meeting on Tuesday at 6 pm. 

I do want to make sure that everyone is also thinking of September 27^th in their calendars, as we need every student and at least one parent volunteer, to help us run our 4^th Annual Owl Marching Invitational! This has become a great fundraiser for our program, as well as an opportunity for our own students to get feedback from the judges. We have 12 bands attending, and around 1,000 students participating. We must have plenty of help from adults to ensure the contest provides a great experience for participating bands and encourages them to return in future years. Junior high band parents are also welcome and encouraged to get involved! As a note, with us being at the halfway point of the six weeks, we encourage students to ensure they are passing! No Pass/No Play applies to both marching band students and our 7^th/8^th Grade students for pep rallies and sports alike. The district has a system where parents may view their students’ grades, and we encourage both parents and students to monitor that. It’s imperative that students make up any work they miss if they are absent from school!

Region Jazz Auditions

We need students at the HS Band Hall to depart for the Region Jazz Auditions on Saturday by 8:00 a.m. The auditions will be hosted at Seale JH in Robstown. We estimate the auditions will finish around noon. We ask that students bring money for lunch, as we’ll stop on the way home. If a student advances to Area, those recordings will be made the following Wednesday at a TBD time in Kingsville in TAMUK’s recording studio.
