Odem Bands Schedule: Week of 8/28/2017
First of all I hope this message finds you and your families safe and healthy! Hurricane Harvey has certainly left its mark on South Texas, but I know that the communities down here will band together and rebuild everything better than it was before in the end. I’m going to pass on a proposed schedule here based on coming back to school on Wednesday – as is currently the estimate the district has sent out. This will be entirely dependent on the water/power situation in Odem being resolved I believe. Should school remain out longer I’ll get more information out.
Several people have asked about the game on Friday, and I want to pass on that the game versus Taft will be postponed until our scheduled Bye Week October 6th. That game will be at home as scheduled. This thankfully takes some pressure off all of us this week!
Beginning Band Instrument Drive:
We have always had our Beginning Band Instrument Drive the first Wednesday of school, but due to the late start we are postponing this drive until Monday, September 4th from 4:30pm-7:30pm. We are going to get the word out as much as possible this week about this. Also if you rented an instrument from Hillje last year you can speak with them about possible step-up options at this drive as well. For most students that continue into high school band a step-up instrument offers them an instrument with improved features that helps them to better handle the advanced literature. Hillje has a great plan that allows you to trade-up for one if you are interested.
Band Fees:
High school band fees were due last week for the marching band students. If those weren’t in please get those in as soon as you are able. I understand completely if the storm has caused your finances to get to a point where you’re unable to pay right now. Please just come let me know that and we’ll get a plan for getting that taken care of.
Tentative Schedule for this Week:
Monday: School Cancelled
Tuesday: School Cancelled
Wednesday: Marching Practice 5pm-6:30pm (This will be till 6pm if Odem CCD is started)
Thursday: Marching Practice 6:30pm-8:30pm
Friday: No Game
