Odem Bands Schedule Week of 9/28/2015

Good evening,

I hope this message finds you well as we prepare for contest season to begin full swing this week for The Spirit of OHS! Before I post the schedule for the week below I would like to ask for any parents that may be available to volunteer to help us with moving props for our contests this coming month. For the show this year we will be placing two main props on the field. The first we placed on the field last week and is a lava pit tarp. We need about four people to move that item.

The larger piece is a cave/mountain set that transports in five pieces to make one large prop that is 32 feet long and nearly 10 feet tall. Four of the pieces are on wheels and roll very easily. I believe we’ll need eight people to move those four pieces. The fifth is the top of the piece and we need about five to six people to move and place that piece as it is quite bulky. The key to all of this is placing it all onto the field in less than two minutes. All together we need about twenty volunteers to help with props as well as help with the front ensemble equipment.

Anyone that will be moving items will of course receive free admission to the contests with us. We need a crew of regular members for this to work. I believe however this will be an amazing addition to our show that will help us to make an even bigger impact to our judges. If you would like to see a picture of it you may find it on the Boosters Facebook group. If you are able to help for our contests and Friday night performances please e-mail me as soon as you can. We would like to have a training on how to move and assemble the mountain tomorrow night (Monday) at 7:30pm, and again on Thursday night at 7:30pm. Thanks in advance to all who help! You do not have to ride the bus with us to help with the props – just meet up with us in the parking lot when we arrive.

Please let me know if you have any questions as we enter this first Week of October and make our final preparations for Marching Contests to begin! Additionally we would like to thank Mr. Ray Witherspoon for constructing our mountain for us!
