Important Dates and Changes for Spring Calendar
I hope this message finds everyone enjoying their Spring Breaks! Due to Spring Scheduling conflicts we have had a few changes of dates on our schedule that I wanted everyone to be aware of. I am also including the next couple months of dates just to remind everyone of the upcoming events.
Thursday, March 31st: Pre-UIL Contest Concert – Please note the date change. The OJH Symphonic Winds, Odem HS Symphonic Band, and Odem HS Wind Ensemble will perform. (Please note we may add the OHS Screeching Owl Jazz Band to this performance as well.)
Saturday, April 2nd: Odem HS Screeching Owl Jazz Band Performs at the TAMUK Jazz Festival.
Saturday, April 9th: Carnegie Hall Recording Session and Meetings
1pm-3pm: Recording Session for Carnegie Hall Performers (Mandatory!)
3pm-4pm: Parent and Student Meeting – Every student must be present with a parent/guardian
4pm-5pm: Chaperone Meeting – We need Chaperones Present to Discuss expectations
I apologize for the date change here, but unfortunately Saturdays appear to be the only day for the month that are really free for this. We must send in our recording right at this time frame for final approval.
Tuesday, April 19th-Thursday, April 21st: UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Contest – Sinton HS
My hope is that each band will be scheduled on separate days. We have a three day window scheduled this year to help avoid conflicting with other events those days.
Friday, April 22nd: 6th Annual South Coast Jazz Festival at Goliad HS
Saturday, April 23rd: ATSSB Region Jazz Clinic/Concert (For students who made the HS and JH Jazz Ensembles Earlier this year)
Tuesday, May 10th: Odem JH Concert Band and Odem JH Beginning Band Perform their Annual Spring Concert
Thursday, May 12th: Odem JH Symphonic Winds and the Odem HS Bands Perform their annual Spring Concert
Thursday, May 19th: Odem HS Screeching Owl Jazz Band Performs their annual Spring Evening of Jazz Concert
Friday, May 27th: Odem High School Graduation – Odem HS Band Mandatory and Odem JH Symphonic Winds Invited
Sunday, May 29th-Monday, May 30th: UIL Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest (Pflugerville)
May 31st-June 8th: Please See the Carnegie Rehearsal Schedule as we finalize rehearsals for our performance at one of the World’s Most Famous Concert Halls!
Wednesday, June 8th – 7pm: The Odem HS Band Performs their Carnegie Hall Send-Off Concert at Sinton HS Auditorium
June 10th-June 14th: Carnegie Hall Trip
Saturday, June 11th at 8:30pm – Carnegie Hall, NYC, NY: Odem HS Band Performs along with Colorado Youth Symphony and the Highlands Youth Ensemble (Children’s Chorus). Tickets are now available online at www.carnegiehall.org for $20-$100 depending on the seat.
Monday, July 25th: Odem HS Band Camp Begins
