Odem Bands Schedule 1/11/2016

I hope this e-mail finds you well! Before I go into the few things that are upcoming for the bands I would like to congratulate Noah Villarreal on being only the second 3-Year All-State Band Member in Odem history! Noah earned 1st Place Percussionist at the Area Auditions on Saturday and we’re very proud of him for that accomplishment! He will travel to San Antonio to perform as a member of the ATSSB All-State Concert Band February 10th-13th.

We would like to also congratulate Breanna Luna, Lesley Barra, and Brandon Morin on also representing Odem HS well at the Area auditions. All three had fantastic performances that day!

Solo and Ensemble Sign-Ups

Last year we began participating with HS Band students at the UIL Solo and Ensemble Contest for the first time in about ten years. We are planning to expand this to include students from the junior high as well. All students must sign up in the band hall with us prior to Friday of this week. Any students that sign up must perform on Thursday, February 18th at the contest in Mathis. Junior high students compete at UIL Solo and Ensemble for medals.

For the High School contest if a student competes on a Class 1 Ensemble, or Class 1 Solo (Memorized) and earn a Superior Rating they receive a medal and will advance to the Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest at the end of May in Austin. Our goal is to take a good number of OHS students to that contest!

Carnegie Hall

Finally for the students attending the Carnegie Hall trip we have a rehearsal from 6:30pm-8:30pm. I will be sending out the rehearsal schedule for the remainder of the spring very soon. All students attending the trip must attend these rehearsals so we may be very well prepared for our recording for final approval in April.

Please note that we need all student and chaperone accounts to be at $1,500 in the next two weeks. This is imperative as we have some of our final and largest bills due in the next six weeks. Please contact me with any questions or concerns!
