Odem Bands Schedule – Week of 1/22/2024
After a couple of odd weeks to start the school year, we’ll get to have our first full week of school this week! Students are preparing for a combination of UIL Concert and Sightreading and Solo and Ensemble right now. Along with that we’re currently preparing for our Cleveland performance in June!
Speaking of performances, on Sunday, February 4th, The Corpus Christi Wind Symphony will be performing at Del Mar College’s Richardson Hall at 4pm. The concert is Free, and I highly encourage students to attend this concert! We’re performing one of our pieces the HS Wind Ensemble is working on for spring and Cleveland, as well as a piece that our HS Brass Choir is performing for Solo and Ensemble, and a couple other ‘standard’ band pieces. I highly encourage all of those students, but also any JH students as well to attend concerts like this one so they can hear what a quality group sounds like. The Corpus Christi Wind Symphony is made up of local professionals and amateurs from around the area, and is one of the finest community bands in the state!
Next, Windi and Jazzi tickets went on sale last week for the May 4th event! You may purchase tickets at http://odemhsband.ludus.com for $15-$25. If you’re new to the event, this is a pops concert/dinner/silent auction we put on each year. It’s probably the most fun concert of the year, and we hope you’ll consider joining us! We’ll be sending out information about what students need to bring to help fill auction baskets in the next couple of weeks.
Tuesday night we will have our postponed monthly Owl Band Booster Meeting at 7pm. We hope you can plan to attend, as we have needs to fill officer positions for next year!
Finally, Spring Band Fees are due this week. Those fees are for all students in Grades 7-12, and are $25/Student payable via Check or Money Order. They help to offset many of the costs in the spring with clinicians, supplies, music, etc. Please make payment out to OEISD, Memo: Band, no later than Monday, January 22nd. (extended to next week due to early release on Friday) Please contact us if you have any questions!
