This week is another light one for the Odem Bands. Last week we cancelled the evening Thursday Odem HS Wind Ensemble evening rehearsal to be safe, but we will begin to have them on Thursdays for the next few weeks. Please see that section below if that applies to your student.

Odem HS Wind Ensemble Information

This week we will begin having evening rehearsals for Wind Ensemble on Thursday evenings from 6:30pm-8:30pm. I will speak with students more about that in class this week. Typically, with Wind Ensemble music we perform longer music that needs additional rehearsal time. We generally do these in January until the end of Basketball season that seems to bring more events into students’ busy schedules. 

We have also confirmed the opportunity that we will have to perform at Texas A&M University Corpus Christi with the group on Saturday, March 5^th as part of their inaugural Invitational Band Festival. Getting an opportunity to perform in the hall at TAMUCC is an amazing experience as a musician! Their auditorium is in the top five concert halls in the State of Texas, and we look forward to performing there. Once the bands have all been finalized we will receive a schedule/itinerary. We get to rehearse/perform/receive a clinic for 75 minutes on that day. We will then return to watch the TAMUCC Symphonic Winds in concert that evening. 

Windi and Jazzi 2022

Later this week we will begin selling tickets and posting up more information about Windi and Jazzi that will be held on May 7^th. This has become an annual dinner/concert to benefit the bands that we look forward to presenting each year! This year’s theme is ‘Night On Broadway’ and will feature music from a number of hit musicals, as well as some other works performed by the HS Band Students. This event benefits the Band Boosters and helps us raise funds program wide by ticket sales and the silent auction we hold simultaneously. Please be on the lookout for information about this event coming soon, and we ask that if you have a business that you own or work for that might be able to contribute that you reach out to them. 

We will be asking each student in grades 6-12 to help with contributing one item to baskets that we will be auctioning off by theme. This event has done quite well for us in the past! Tickets will be $15-$25 per ticket depending on the seating type/location, and comes with a choice of Chicken Fried Steak or Chicken, Sides, a drink, and dessert along with the great entertainment! I’ll send out an email later this week when we begin selling tickets online for this event!
