Odem Bands Schedule – Week of 1/27/2020
This week we will be focusing on preparing students for the UIL Region Solo and Ensemble contest next Thursday. Students should be getting together with their ensembles, and working with Mr. Williams on their solos with accompaniment at some point this week. We will hopefully have performance times sometime later in the week to share with you. The event is a public event and you may come watch your student perform.
We have a conflict with our Pre-UIL Concert date that we are going to have to adjust for next month. There is no perfect option to look at, but we are tentatively going to move from Monday, the 24th to Tuesday, February the 25th. The performances will begin at 6:30pm with the OJH Concert Band, 6:45pm OJH Symphonic Winds, 7pm OHS Symphonic Band, and 7:30pm OHS Wind Ensemble. Monday is a conflict with a varsity baseball game scheduled for Whataburger Field. We’re triple checking this week to make sure that this is our best option and will confirm this to be an official move later this week. We know there may be some conflicts with softball on Tuesday and will work around that the best that we can. The OJH Symphonic Winds and OHS Wind Ensemble go to UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Evaluation on March 5th in Goliad, and the OJH Concert Band and OHS Symphonic Band go on April 1st/2nd in San Diego.
This week we will begin the OJH Fundraiser with the 6th-8th Grade Band students. The fundraiser is the same as the former ‘Mixed Bags’ fundraiser, but with a new company name. Please share this link with your friends and family out of town. https://www.boonsupply.com/collections/607771-odem-jh-band Students will receive their catalogs and forms on Tuesday, and will have until the following Friday, February 7th to sell items and turn in the forms/money. Please help this fundraiser and the OJH Bands out!
Finally please keep in mind our Mattress Fundraiser is coming up very soon! Tuesday February 11th we need a parent for every student to please come attend the monthly band booster meeting and meet with the representative for the company. They will be handing out yard signs and other information for us to make this successful! We get a cut out of every mattress and receive bonuses for quantities that are sold that day. Please help us get the word out about this event!
Mattress Fundraiser Details:
Our Mattress Fundraiser for the Odem High School Band is 7 weeks away, on Saturday, March 7th! We need everyone to help us promote the event! The success of this relies entirely on us inviting people to the sale that are in need of a new mattress!

Windi and Jazzi Fundraiser:
Our 3rd Annual Windi and Jazzi Fundraiser will be held on Friday, April 3rd. This year’s theme will be “Heroes” for the event. We have once again setup online ticket orders – you can order tickets here at http://odemhsband.ludus.com. There you can pick your seats out and pay easily. We will provide ticket order forms to students in March, or you may also visit the band hall to purchase them. Please help us sell this event out! (Tickets should be paid for via check/money order made out to Owl Band Boosters if paid for at band hall) Tickets are $15 for the longer outside tables, $20 for the middle circular tables, or $25 for the Back tables with chairs. (If you would like the $25 seats I recommend ordering online soon as they sell out quickly!)
Dinner is going to be Fried Fish or Chicken with sides and dessert provided.
We will need basket items for the silent auction that will be held at Windi and Jazzi. The Boosters are also seeking donations of restaurant gift cards and other items to also include and bundle in the silent auction. If you can help with obtaining these donations please contact Mrs. Mandi Edwards. We will provide the students themes for baskets in the next couple of weeks.
Windi and Jazzi is a great event that has grown each year. Please help support this event with a great meal and great music!
Preliminary Summer Band Dates:
We are in the process of verifying camp dates, but wish to provide a pretty firm list of dates for the summer for families to begin planning their vacation plans around.
June 14th-18th – Texas A&M University Guard/Drum Major/Leadership Camp
July 16th-17th – Leadership Camp dates? (Tentative based on summer clinic)
July 18th – Students to DCI Contest in Calallen
July 20th-22nd – Drumline Camp/Guard Rehearsals
July 27th – Marching Band Camp Begins
July 31st – March-A-Thon

Friday: Band Hall closed at 4:00pm
