Odem Bands Schedule – Week of 1/28/2024
This week is a short one for students, but we do have a few events through the week! First there is a Pep Rally for Winter Sports on Tuesday at the end of the day. We’ll be performing at that with all of our eligible students. Thursday, we’ll have our Annual Solo and Ensemble Recital. This event begins at 5pm, and we’ll continue through all of our HS students performing at UIL Solo and Ensemble two weeks later. Students should dress ‘nicely’ for the event, no jeans or shorts. (We’ll work with anyone coming from sports practices as needed) At the end of the recital we’ll share some cake to celebrate the students’ performances!
Next, on Sunday, The Corpus Christi Wind Symphony will be performing at Del Mar College’s Richardson Hall at 4pm. The concert is Free, and I highly encourage students to attend this concert! We’re performing one of our pieces the HS Wind Ensemble is working on for spring and Cleveland, as well as a piece that our HS Brass Choir is performing for Solo and Ensemble, and a couple other ‘standard’ band pieces. I highly encourage all of those students, but also any JH students as well to attend concerts like this one so they can hear what a quality group sounds like. The Corpus Christi Wind Symphony is made up of local professionals and amateurs from around the area, and is one of the finest community bands in the state!
Windi and Jazzi tickets are on sale for the May 4th event! You may purchase tickets at http://odemhsband.ludus.com for $15-$25. If you’re new to the event, this is a pops concert/dinner/silent auction we put on each year. It’s probably the most fun concert of the year, and we hope you’ll consider joining us! We’ll be sending out information about what students need to bring to help fill auction baskets in the next couple of weeks.
Finally, Spring Band Fees were due this past week. Those fees are for all students in Grades 7-12, and are $25/Student payable via Check or Money Order. They help to offset many of the costs in the spring with clinicians, supplies, music, etc. Please make payment out to OEISD, Memo: Band, as soon as possible.
