Odem Bands Schedule Week of 1/29/2018
Thank you to all of the parents that came to the meeting this past Tuesday for the trip. Please note that if you didn’t come to the meeting I would like to make sure you have the information that was covered then. We did have to raise the price of the trip to $1,350 due to costs and what we have available to help with those. I will send out updated statements via e-mail here shortly. All students need to have their accounts to at least $800 by Wednesday of this week. If this poses a problem please contact me before then.
Spring Band Fees
Spring Band Fees of $50 should be paid by Wednesday for all students grades 7-12. If a parent worked a shift in the concession stand that fee is waived. Please make checks/money orders are made out to OEISD. Please contact us if there are any questions.
Upcoming Fundraisers
The Junior High Bands will begin their Mixed Bag Fundraiser in the coming week or so that is the same as last years. Around the same time the HS Band will be running a fundraiser ‘Simply Sheets’ that will be selling bedding sheets. Please keep an eye out for the information for these from your students.
Upcoming Concerts
Next Tuesday, February 6th at 7pm we are going to host our first ever Odem Solo and Ensemble Recital. Since we began attending UIL Solo and Ensemble there have not been many chances for parents/community members to see some of our students perform at a high level on their solos/ensembles. This evening will be a great chance for them also to prepare for their contest on Thursday, February 8th. For both this event and Solo and Ensemble we ask students to dress up nicely. Slacks for gentlemen, slacks/skirts/dresses are all acceptable for ladies. We ask that skirts/dresses be knee length or longer please. Many times ensembles try and coordinate what they’re wearing.
A few weeks later on Monday, February 26th the Odem JH Symphonic Winds, Odem HS Symphonic Band, and Odem HS Wind Ensemble will perform their Pre-UIL Contest Concert at the Odem HS Cafetorium. This is a mandatory and graded performance for those students.
UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Contest will follow for us on Tuesday, March 6th in Goliad. We will pass on information on the performance times when we get closer.
Thursday Rehearsal Odem HS Wind Ensemble
Thursday night we will have a rehearsal with the Odem HS Wind Ensemble from 6:30pm-8:30pm. We will do this again the following week as well. With contest coming so early this year we need a bit of extra rehearsal time and this should hopefully help us with that. All Odem HS Wind Ensemble students should be there unless they have a sports obligation.

Tuesday: Band Hall Open until 5pm
Wednesday: Band Hall Open until 5pm
Thursday: Evening Rehearsal OHS Wind Ensemble 6:30pm-8:30pm
Friday: Band Hall Closed After School
Saturday: Vocal UIL Solo and Ensemble Contest – Students at Band Hall by 11:15am Return by 3:30pm-4pm
