Odem Bands Schedule – Week of 1/30/2022
We would like to begin this week by congratulating these Odem JH Band Members for earning a place in the All-Region Jazz Band! Jonah Garcia (Bari Sax), Shawn Williams (Trumpet), Adrienne Contreras (Trumpet), Von Barrera (Trumpet), and Eva Garcia (Trombone) make up the largest contingent of JH Jazz members we’ve ever had! They will perform on Saturday at the All-Region Jazz Concert in the new Performance Hall at Texas A&M University Kingsville. They will rehearse on Friday evening, then Saturday until the concert. Please see below for the schedule.
This week all 7th-12th Graders have their $25 Spring Band Fees that need to be turned in by Tuesday. Those fees need to be paid in Check or Money Order only please, made out to OEISD, Memo: Band. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns!
After that we’re fully in Solo and Ensemble preparation mode. Our annual Solo and Ensemble Recital will be held on February 16th at 6:30pm. That is mandatory for HS Applied Music students/HS Ensemble members, and optional for JH Band Students. We use this as a great chance for students to be prepared for their UIL Region performances the following week!
We mentioned this last week, but Windi and Jazzi tickets are on sale now! Our annual Dinner/Concert Fundraiser will be held on May 6th at 5:30pm in the Odem HS Cafetorium. This year’s theme is ‘Comedy Tonight,’ and will feature tributes to the slapstick eras of musical comedy! You may pre-purchase tickets here: http://odemhsband.ludus.com We will be seeking out donations for basket items and business donations in the coming weeks. Please keep an eye out for that information!

All-Region Jazz Clinic/Concert:
Students will leave from school at about 3pm to depart for Kingsville on Friday. We will cover dinner for them on this evening. They will rehearse from 5pm-8pm at Texas A&M University Kingsville and then should return home shortly before 9pm. Saturday morning they need to meet at the JH Band Hall before 7:40am. Students will be covered for lunch, and then the concert begins at 5pm. We strongly encourage parents to come to the performance in the new Performance Hall at TAMUK! (This is not the same hall as Region has been held, it’s in the new building next door)
Students may be picked up by parents following the performance, but please ensure we get the alternative transportation form turned into us prior to Friday, and sign out with Mr. Williams. All of them should bring their concert clothes on Saturday for the concert.
