Odem Bands Schedule – Week of 10/1/2018
This past week the Odem HS band students had a great first run at the Robstown Marching Showcase. We were able to get some good feedback early from judges and will be using that to improve and adjust our show as we prepare for our future contests! Thank you to all who attended our performance this past weekend.
This week brings us to our second week of marching contests for the high school band. We will be competing this week at Gregory-Portland High School at 1:15pm. Please see that section of this weeks post for more information on our schedule that day. This week is our bye week for varsity football, but we are going to have a rehearsal from 4pm-5pm after school Friday. Additionally it is imperative every student is at our rehearsal on Monday (tomorrow) evening at 6:30pm as we have a guest clinician coming to our rehearsal. If possible students should be at the Band Hall by 6pm to move equipment over to the stadium for our clinic.
There will be an Owl Band Booster Meeting on Tuesday night at 7pm in the Odem HS Band Hall. Also Odem Junior High 7th and 8th Grade Band Students have a pep rally performance on Thursday.
Please note that students grades for the six-weeks will be in and report cards given out this week. Any student who is ineligible on their report card loses eligibility on Friday at 3:45pm. They may regain eligibility on the three weeks progress reports if they are not failing any classes at that time. I encourage parents/guardians to get access to their students grades online through the district and look at them a couple of times a week. Also please keep in mind the attendance eligibility requirements of unexcused absences. Please make sure any notes are turned in for when students miss school!
Gregory-Portland Tournament of Bands
The Gregory-Portland Tournament of Bands is our scheduled contest for this week. Our performance is at 1:15pm, admission for spectators to this contest is $7 per person. Awards are at 7:45pm after the final band performs. Students should bring some money for the concession stand for food/dinner after we perform. Students may be picked up after we perform, but we will be staying to watch the other bands and awards. I anticipate we should be ready for students to be picked up about 9pm.

8:30am – Students Report to Band Hall
10:30am – Students on Buses to Depart
11:15am – Arrive at GPHS to unload/Warm-Up
1:15pm – Perform
2:00pm – Reload trailer and return to stadium to watch rest of competition
7:45pm – Awards Ceremony
8:45pm – Return to Odem Band Hall
