Odem Bands Schedule – Week of 10/16/2023
This week we begin by congratulating the members of The Spirit of OHS for earning a Superior Rating at Saturday’s UIL Region Marching Contest! All three judges agreed that it was a superior performance! Their performance has now qualified the band for the Area Marching Contest in a little under two weeks on October 28th! I will have a full schedule for that weekend out soon, but I want to make sure we start planning for a very early call time at the band hall of 4am. We will be the second band to perform out of 34 bands on that day, so it means we’ll be warming up at Beeville around 7:30am.
This week we’ll be working on cleaning and preparing students for the next two weeks for that performance. However, we will also be hosting the UIL 2A Area E Marching Contest this weekend! The past few years there had been a small number of bands participating, but I’m happy to say we’ll be hosting a full contest and finals for them at Owl Stadium! They will have 12 bands perform in Prelims and 7 bands perform in Finals. We plan to do an exhibition performance at the end of Prelims while judges complete their verification. Finals are tentatively scheduled to begin at 7pm and conclude with their awards ceremony around 9pm. Hopefully we’ll have everything cleaned up and shut down by 11pm.
This is a major UIL event that we will be hosting, and need an army of volunteers to help make this a great experience for their students! We will also be raising funds by selling concessions and t-shirts for the event. We’re quickly making our way through Bandtober here, but still have a bit to go! Please help us make sure students are at every rehearsal and performance – we can’t afford to miss any of them at any practices these next two weeks!
