Odem Bands Schedule – Week of 10/2/2023
This week we wish to extend our appreciation to all who came to help us move equipment and see us perform this weekend in Victoria! The sun was blazing, but we appreciated all of our supporters! We learned some things at this contest that we have to correct this week and moving forward, and we’ll be working hard to do so! For HS Band students please note that while students do not have school on Monday, we do still have rehearsal! Friday’s game is in Monte Alto, the itinerary for it is listed in the weekly schedule.
This Saturday (October 7th) we have a legendary clinician coming in to work with the band from 3pm-6pm. Additionally trumpets will have a masterclass with the Dr. Thornton, the trumpet professor from A&M Corpus Christi at 1:30-2:30pm. Saturday is mandatory for all students and is a test grade like each of our performances.
We are then only a week away from October 14th, which is UIL Region Marching Contest (Beeville). We will be performing at 6:30pm for that event. A full schedule for the event will be coming next weekend.
The next Saturday, October 21st we host the 2A UIL Area E Marching Contest (Exhibition Performance) at Owl Stadium. This has been a much smaller contest than our own Invitational, but we do need to have the same stations set up for the performers. The week after that, on October 28th we will compete in our own Area Marching Contest in Beeville at the 3A UIL Area Contest in Beeville for a chance at the UIL State Marching Contest. In the band world the phrase ‘Bandtober’ has become our normal term for the month, and I’m sure you can see why as we have something every single weekend until the end of the month!
Saturday – Marching Clinic
Students need to wear their show shirts and shorts this day to help with cleaning visual forms. This is a mandatory grade and we need every student present!
1:30pm-2:30pm: Trumpet Masterclass with Dr. Thornton (Mandatory for All Trumpets)
2:30pm: Students arrive and set up Game field for Clinic
3:00pm: Begin clinic
6:00pm: Clinic Ends
