Odem Bands Schedule – Week of 10/21/2024
We would like to begin this week by congratulating the members of The Spirit of OHS for achieving their 19th Consecutive Superior Rating at the UIL Region Marching Contest! That qualifies the group to compete this weekend at UIL Area Marching Contest in Beeville. As of this email, we are still waiting for a schedule. Right now, I would guess, based on an example schedule, that we’ll be performing around 3 pm – 3:30 pm. I’ll confirm our time as soon as we receive that schedule. We will also have a ‘Send-Off’ performance on Friday at 7 p.m. for the band! We invite all our parent and community supporters to come out and support the students, and we also get an archive recording of the performance that we can share. This is a performance grade for the students.
Yesterday, we received an amazing level of support from parent volunteers. We would ask that you all please consider helping again! That was the best entrance onto the field we’ve been able to make so far! Also, a special thank you to Mr. Aguirre for helping us rebuild the Alamo after our Friday performance damaged it!
This week, it will be imperative that students attend all our rehearsals! We will rehearse Monday night from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Wednesday 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Thursday 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. We need all our students to be at all our practices, the send-off, and on time on Saturday for us to have our best performance possible! We have 27 bands competing on Saturday, with ten advancing to the Finals that evening, and five bands will advance to State.
We urge parents, relatives, friends, community members, etc., to come out and support students at the contest! Applause and crowd support always help our students perform at their best! Tickets for this event are only sold online at this site: https://uilareae.ludus.com/index.php . Tickets are $6 for any age 6 and up, and children Aged five and under are admitted free.
Next week, we will host the UIL 2A Area Marching Contest. We have tentative times of 12 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. They have had 12 bands advance, so after the preliminary round they will have a Finals round with seven bands performing again in the evening. We will have one final week of marching contests the following week. The guaranteed performance is for the Bands of America Super-Regional Competition at the Alamo Dome on Friday, November 8th. We perform at 11:30 a.m. for the contest. For anyone who wishes to purchase tickets for the event, that information is here: https://marching.musicforall.org/event/san-antonio-super-regional-2024/. We will travel the following day for awards and to watch finals that evening.
Finally, we still have some extra show shirts for sale if you want to wear one at Area this week! We have a selection of most sizes available for $30 for S-XL, $32 for XXL, and $34 for XXXL.
