Odem Bands Schedule – Week of 10/22/2018 – Homecoming Week
Congratulations to The Spirit of OHS for earning their 13th Consecutive Superior Rating at UIL Marching Contest!!!! We are very proud of the students of all of the bands from 2006-2018 for their hard work year after year. This is now the longest streak in school history, before this 1972-1983 had been the longest streak. Congrats to the students for earning a superior from every judge!
There’s no time to rest though, as we’re off to a busy week this week with Homecoming! We are also going to be hard at work these next two weeks to prepare for the Bands of America Super Regional contest on November 2nd in the Alamodome. 84 bands are competing in the massive competition that is one of the biggest competitions in the country! Our students are set to compete at 11:45am that day. Tickets for that event are available at the Box Office or online through TicketMaster. I’ll post more information about this event next week. We will return home for the game vs. Taft that night, and then go back to the contest on Saturday to watch the remaining bands and attend the awards ceremony. Should we earn the Class A Champion award we would perform again in exhibition at finals that evening.
Monday November 5th we will have a meeting for the 2020 Odem HS Band Trip to Washington DC at 7pm in the Cafetorium. We’ll provide the proposed itinerary, payment plan information, and trip agreement forms at that meeting. We hope that every band student in grades 8-11 will be able to travel with us on this trip! Please join us even if you are not sure about whether your student will go or not. This will be an amazing trip that I hope we can have every student go!
Concession Stand Help Needed
This week’s Homecoming Game still needs a lot of volunteers to help out with the game. Please help if you are able at all! Just click Volunteer needs at the top and select a date on the next page and enter your information. We have this game and one more Varsity Home game left of the season at home. Please remember that we do waive the Spring Band Fee for 7th Grade – 12th Grade of $50 if you work a game. Please help us to finish the season strong in side the concession stand!
Homecoming Events
Thursday – Burning of the O – 7:30pm
We will start Rehearsal at 5pm this evening until 7pm and then walk over to the tennis courts for the Burning of the O.
Friday – Parade/Game
The parade will be at 2:30pm that day with The Spirit of OHS Marching at the front of the parade. Students will need to be present in the Band Hall by 5:15pm that evening for our walkthrough and to arrive at the Stadium for the Homecoming Ceremony at 6:45pm.
