First, I would like to thank everyone who came and volunteered to host the UIL 2A Area Contest yesterday! Throughout the day our campus received positive feedback from participants, contest staff, and judges who were there for the event! We served as great hosts for a special event, and it was a pleasure to see everyone come together to support the 2A’s who worked so hard to get there!

This week we will have our own Area Contest in Beeville on Saturday. There will be 33 bands at our contest, and we have drawn the second spot of the day for our performance time for 8:15am. This means we will have an incredibly early call time of needing students at the HS no later than 4am Saturday! Due to this exceptionally early start, I have spoken with Coach Huerta and our administration and received their support and approval to send the band home after halftime this week to allow them to get a little bit of extra sleep going into Saturday. That should allow us to send students home about 9pm, instead of after 10:30pm. 

Friday is our Senior Band night before the game as well, when we will recognize our senior band members and their parents following the Football and Cheer parent night. Senior parents we ask that you meet us at the scoreboard side gate by the stands by 6:45pm so we can have everyone lined up for the ceremony.

Saturday morning, as I said, we will need students at the Band Hall before 4am. (Band Hall will open at 3:30am) We will do our stretches/run-through, feed students breakfast, and then finish loading and depart for Beeville. We need to arrive by 6:30am to unload and get to warm-up by 7:30am. We will probably need quite a bit of help to move equipment to the track/field this morning. If you can help, please find us in the lot by about 7am. Following our performance, we will load everything back up into our vehicles. Our plan is to go eat lunch in Sinton, then hang out at the Band Hall until 3:45pm when we’ll return to Beeville. Announcements of finalists will take place between 5:45pm-6pm or so. Our plan is to go eat dinner, and then if we advance we will return to the stadium for finals that begin at 8pm. The final performance for finals takes place at 10:45pm, and we would probably return around 12:30-1am if we advance.

Going into this week it is imperative that we have students at EVERY rehearsal! We are rehearsing from 6:30pm-8:30pm tomorrow night with a guest clinician, Mr. Molina. I would ask that any student who is not in a sport please arrive by 6pm to help transport equipment to the field so we may start on time with him and get as much done as we can! We will rehearse again on Wednesday from 4-5:30pm, and Thursday from 6:30pm-8:30pm. 

The members of the band have worked incredibly hard since July on this show, I would ask that you please help us get as large of an audience as possible on Saturday at 8:15am to support their performance! It’s much easier to perform for a supportive crowd than a bunch of empty bleachers! Tickets are only available online for the contest, and may be purchased here: https://uilareae.ludus.com .
