Odem Bands Schedule – Week of 10/24/2022
Today we would like to congratulate The Spirit of OHS on an outstanding performance yesterday at the UIL Area E competition! We placed 25th out of the 35 bands yesterday, and though that isn’t the result we hoped for, we are still immensely proud of the students for their hard work this season! We will be concluding their competitive season next week on November 4th at the Alamodome at the Bands of America Super Regional Competition. We perform at 9pm that night, and will be staying overnight through Saturday when they have a prelims awards ceremony.
This week we don’t have a competition to compete in, we just have a competition to run! The UIL 2A Area Competition will be held at our stadium on Saturday, and we need to have volunteers to help the contest run as smoothly as we can for participants. I have posted a sign-up genius here for that event: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0F4FA8A92AA7FAC25-uil2aarea We only have 6 bands that will be attending the contest, but it will take the same volunteer force to bring the event together for those participating schools as we had for our Invitational. We will perform in Exhibition at the end of the contest like we did with ours and especially will need adults helping out at that point.
Please help us ensure that we have adequate help to run the event, as doing so will inevitably help us also recruit bands to join us for our own contest again next year. We will need volunteers to arrive for a pre-contest meeting at 10:30am, and we will see the first schools arriving probably right around noon. The contest itself kicks off with the first band at 2pm, and will conclude the competing bands performances at 3:45pm. Verification/Announcements then should be completed by 4:30pm, and we should be done with clean up by 5:30pm.
This does help us raise funds for the program, so please volunteer to help out!
Thank you for your help and support all season long! Just these last two weeks and we will be officially in ‘sit-down band’ mode with the HS.

Note: There is one additional event scheduled now that is not on that calendar yet. The Spirit of OHS will be marching in the Odem Christmas Parade on December 17th. The parade is set to begin at 6pm. We need every student who is in town still to please be in attendance. More information will come about this event as we draw closer to it.
