Odem Bands Schedule – Week of 10/28/2019 – STATE BOUND!
Congratulations to The Spirit of OHS for earning their way to the UIL State Marching Band Contest yesterday! They started by competing with 31 bands to be 12th in Prelims, taking the last place that advanced to finals. The Spirit of OHS then successfully fought their way to earn 5th Place, and a State Berth in the Finals Round! Our students did an outstanding job of performing and improving between rounds! We are so very proud of their accomplishment of now earning Back-to-Back trips to the UIL State Marching Band Contest!!!
The 3A UIL State Marching Band Contest is going to be held in San Antonio at the Alamodome on Wednesday, November 6th. The Spirit of OHS Performs at 2:15pm that day. I will have more information on tickets and such in next weeks post, but UIL has this page up with most of that information: https://www.uiltexas.org/music/marching-band/state Tickets may be purchased in advance through TicketMaster or at the gate. I do advise that you make sure you plan to arrive at least an hour before our performance time, so you can get through security and find a seat.
We will be working with our shirt company to have commemorative shirts made up for the event. You can find an order form here: http://www.odembands.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/2019-State-Marching-Band-Shirt-Order-Form.pdf I will also send the copies home via students tomorrow. They will need turned in by Tuesday afternoon so we can have them in time for them to arrive by next week. Shirts need to be paid for with a check or money-order only please! Marching Band Members and our helpers that went to Area with us will pay $5, all other shirts will be $20 per shirt, with $2 extra for each additional X above XL.
More information on our plans for that day will be coming soon. Our final information is pending some decisions that still need to be made. We are planning on traveling up early Wednesday morning and coming back that evening after finals.
Senior Band Parents Night:
This Friday at the Odem vs. Taft game we will have our annual Senior Band Parents night. We will hold this before the game and all senior band parents should find Mr. Williams at the gate on the scoreboard side stands by 6:30pm to line up. We will begin the recognition of our seniors at 6:45pm. O
