Odem Bands Schedule – Week of 10/31/2022
Firstly, this week, thank you to all of the students and parents who came out to help run the 2A Area E Marching Contest yesterday! Things went smooth thanks to your help and support!
We are entering into our final week of Marching Season for the HS Band this week! We will have a guest clinician at Monday night’s rehearsal to help us clean our show as much as possible! Please remember that attendance is mandatory/graded for all eligible members! Due to the startup of winter sports we will again only rehearse on Monday and Thursday evenings this week from 6:30pm-8:30pm, and it is imperative that every student attends those rehearsals for us to have a solid performance on Friday!
For Monday’s rehearsal students are welcome to come in costume if they wish! We do ask that A) Be appropriate for a school event, and B) be something they can move around without any impairment. It’s important that we are able to rehearse normally in whatever they are wearing.
Friday we will be leaving during the school day to travel to San Antonio. I have a full itinerary below, but we will be aiming to arrive at the Alamodome lot to walk across the street for dinner at 5:30pm. We’ll be then going briefly inside the Alamodome to watch a band or two, then unload everything and head to warm-up. The students perform at 9:00pm, and tickets are available on TicketMaster.com.
If you wish to come along with us to watch Saturday’s prelims I believe that is a separate ticket. Be advised parking can be difficult to find around that area and you will want to allot yourself plenty of time to find parking, get through the ticketing process, and find seats. I would try and be there at least 90 minutes in advance to be safe! The contest will also be streamed through Box5TV. Once we conclude our performance Friday night we will head to the hotel. We’ll have breakfast the next morning and arrive to watch a block of bands before walking to the Rivercenter Mall for lunch. This is the one meal students will be on their own for, and should plan to take money for this please. There are a number of fast food options and a couple restaurants that might be options. We’ll finish there and head back to the competition for its concluding block/awards. We plan to go to Magic Time Machine for dinner after that. We know that students’ families may wish to come with us to that dinner, but please note we’ll be in a separate banquet room with our students. We’ve been told there won’t be additional seating with us.
I believe we will return about 10:15pm or so that evening to Odem. We hope this is a great way for our students to complete their competition season this year! They will probably want to bring some additional spending money for souvenir T-Shirts/pins/etc. on sale at the event.
