Odem Bands Schedule Week of 10/10/2016
This week sees The Spirit of OHS competing at the Robstown Crossroads Marching Contest on Saturday, as well as our next away game at London HS. Monday night for rehearsal we would like to invite all parents that can help move props at our next contests to come for a training on setup needs for our contests. With our performances we have 3 minutes to have everything in place and 2 minutes for teardown. Based on additional props we will be adding this week we need at least 10 more parents helping move items. If you can help please try and be at the Stadium at 7:30pm Monday.
Sponsorship Fundraiser
On Thursday we passed out our annual Sponsorship Fundraiser to students in grades 6-12. Our goal is to raise funds for several items this year. For high school students participating there will be funds applied towards the Florida 2018 trip. We have two other main functions for the funds this year, bringing in specialists on students’ instruments to run clinics with students, and preparing a balance to help be prepared for unexpected needs as we split the junior high and high school band halls this coming 2017-2018 school year. This last need in particular, is one that will be affecting all students in the coming year; as Odem has shared rehearsal space for the bands for the history of the program. The district is working to prepare for that split as best as they can, but I am certain like moving into a new house there will be items we cannot completely expect we need. Please reach out to your employers, relatives, and any other connections you may have.
Robstown Crossroads Marching Contest
Saturday’s marching contest will be held at Robstown Cottonpicker Stadium. If you are unfamiliar with the location the address is: 609 TX-44, Robstown, TX 78380. Parking is available in two locations depending on how packed the parking area is. The first is to take a right on Bosquez St. and also right off of Avenue J. It is possible they may have one of those lots designated for parking for buses/trailers. It’s been about 7 years since the last time Odem attended a contest at Robstown, so please be on the lookout for more information this week as I’m sure they will send out a final contest packet early this week! I will also send out information about admission when I receive that as well.
Following our performance, at about 4:45pm you may pickup any students that need to return for the Fall Festival. I may see about sending a bus back, please stay tuned for that information. The awards ceremony is scheduled for 8:30pm and we will need to at least drum majors to remain for that ceremony, but encourage other students to stay and watch the remaining bands as well!

Tuesday: Band Hall Open until 4:15pm
Wednesday: 5:00pm-6:00pm Evening Marching Rehearsal
Thursday: 6:30pm-8:30pm Evening Marching Rehearsal
Friday: 5:00pm – Students at Band Hall
5:30pm – Buses Depart
7:30pm – Game vs. London at London HS
~11:30pm – Return to Band Hall
Saturday: 12:00pm – Walkthrough Show and Load Trailer
1:30pm – Load Buses
2:30pm – Arrive at Robstown
3:15pm – Warmup
4:00pm – Perform
4:45pm – Students may be picked up to return to school
