Odem Bands Schedule Week of 10/16/2017 – UIL Region Marching

As we begin this week we would like to congratulate the members of The Spirit of OHS Percussion section for earning Best Percussion in Class 3A yesterday. It was a long day overall for our students and they still performed well at the contest. We have a lot of work to do in the coming weeks, but I know the students will be working hard towards our goals!

This week is going to be a big week for us with the UIL Region Marching Contest in Sinton. Our students perform at 11:45am for this performance, and we invite not only our high school parents, but junior high students and their families, and alumni/friends of the program to come join us for that performance! Please help us turn the stands Blue and Gold! My understanding at this time is that announcement of the 2A and 3A ratings will both be done at the break immediately following our performance. As soon as our Front Ensemble equipment and props are out of the way we will either file into the stands or stand along the fence for the ratings. When the ratings are announced we will return home to Odem. Please note this is information based off of a draft schedule and there is a slight (but unlikely) chance that those times may adjust slightly.

It is imperative that ALL high school students are at ALL rehearsals this week. We have a lot of work to do this week to prepare for Region and Area next week. Additionally we will have Mr. Molina in to work with the band at tomorrow night’s rehearsal. Please note HS students should come prepared to go outside most class days this week. The cold front coming in today may mean students need a sweatshirt as well.

Region Marching Contest Info:

Students need to be at the Band Hall at 7:00am on Saturday. We will do our walk-through of the show and begin the process of getting loaded and dressed to depart. If there are a couple parents who could help with checking pant lengths that would be helpful.

We could also use a couple other parents to help with the bridge prop this week. We are very appreciative of Mr. McClellen’s help this past few weeks in moving the prop that he and Mr. Hammack put together! Mr. McClellen does have other obligations for the day of Area though and we need some other adults to take his place. Parents who can help with equipment should meet Mr. Williams outside the gate or at the buses around 10am Saturday in Sinton.

Please help us turn the stands Blue and Gold! I believe admission is $5 for adults and $3 for younger students.

Game vs. London HS Friday:

This Friday’s game versus London should be well attended and we will need a number of volunteers still to help in the concession stand. Please note this is the second to last Varsity game to qualify for the Spring Fee Waiver. Please see this link to volunteer to sign-up to help. You do not need a student password, just hover over ‘Volunteers’ at the top and click Volunteer needs. You can select the event and sign-up with your email.

Orlando Trip Payments:

Please remember we should have received October payments by this time. We’re still short of our October payment from a number of students – please get those in as soon as possible.
