Odem Bands Schedule Week of 10/3/2016
October is officially here and one of the busiest months of the Odem Bands begins! Before I go into the weeks schedule I would like to first say that we still need about 10 more parents to volunteer to help out at the concession stands this week for Friday’s game. Remember that if you do work a shift in the concession stand the $50 spring band fee (Grades 7-12) is waived. We have three home games left including this one for the varsity team. Additionally we also need plenty of help moving props on to the field. We were shorthanded on Saturday and need about 8 more adults helping with those as well. If you are able/interested please meet Mr. Rash/Mr. Williams at the gate next to the band at the beginning of the 2nd quarter.
Yesterday The Spirit of OHS performed at the New Braunfels Marching Showcase and brought home a 1st Place in Class and and the available Caption awards as well. Additionally they scored higher than the one UIL 4A band that was present at the competition! We now look forward to using the judges comments to further refine the show as we move forward towards our next three contests!
This week we will be changing the HS rehearsal up a little bit. Due to our clinic on Saturday from 3pm-6pm (Mandatory for all HS Band Members) we will not rehearse on Wednesday this week. (This is so that we ensure that we in no way go over our UIL 8-Hour Rule).
On Tuesday, at 7pm we will be having our Monthly Booster Meeting. I will go over the 2018 Orlando Trip information that evening again as well for those who may not have been able to make it this past week. I will send home information with all of the rest of the students whose parents may have had conflicts with both meeting times on Wednesday. We also will begin our 2016-2017 Program Sponsorship Fundraiser this week on Wednesday as well.
Schedule this Week:
Monday: 6:30pm-8:30pm Marching Band Evening Rehearsal
Tuesday: 7:00pm Owl Band Booster Meeting
Wednesday: Band Hall Open until 4:15pm
Thursday: 6:30pm-8:30pm Marching Band Evening Rehearsal
Friday: 5:30pm Band Students need to be at the Band Hall
7:30pm Game Begins
Saturday: 3:00pm-6:00pm Marching Rehearsal with Clinician (Students should arrive by 2:45pm)
One last piece of information is our performance time for UIL Region on October 22nd. We will be performing at 6:30pm at Sinton HS for that contest. Please help us plan to turn the stands Blue and Gold when the students march!
