Odem Bands Schedule: Week of 10/5/2015
Good afternoon,
We have a very busy week scheduled for this week so I am going to break out each bit of information by topic below.
USBands Goliad Showcase:
We would like to congratulate the students that make up the Spirit of OHS for an outstanding job yesterday. Not only did they earn the captions for Best Music, Best Visual, and Best Percussion in our conference, they took first place in their conference as well! Additionally they earned the highest score of any band throughout the day in all conferences! A special thank you goes out to the parents who helped with moving our mountain prop this weekend.
We still need several more parents to help with that this week at our game and the following weeks at competitions. Several of the parents that helped this weekend will be unavailable to help at our future performances.
Sponsorship Fundraiser:
The Sponsorship Fundraiser forms and money were due this past Friday. We will still take any that are out there, and will keep this as an ongoing option for businesses and individuals to help contribute this year. Please contact me with any questions. We truly need more participation from all students in fundraisers as the year continues.
Booster Meeting:
The Owl Band Boosters will have their monthly meeting at the Band Hall on Tuesday at 7pm.
NYC Trip Payments:
Trip Payments for the Month of October should be paid by Tuesday at the Booster Meeting or given to the Directors at that Band Hall. Remember only checks or money orders are accepted. For students that have stuck with the payment plan the payment should be $120. If only a deposit had been paid by September that payment should be $300.

Senior Band Parents Night:
This week we will recognize the Band Seniors and their parents before the football game. Parents of those seniors should meet Mr. Williams at the side of the field where the band sits for line-up by 6:45pm. Students will be given their questionnaires for announcements tomorrow in class.
Spirit of OHS Marching Band Clinic Saturday:
This will be listed under the schedule as well, but Saturday is a very important rehearsal for The Spirit of OHS. We will be bringing down Mr. John Rauschuber from Fredricksburg HS above San Antonio. He is a very accomplished director with his bands having won the title of Honor Band for what is now Class 4A in 2013, Runner Up in Class 4A for Marching Band in 2012, and most recently being a State Finalist at the 2014 UIL State Marching Contest for 4A. I believe he will be of invaluable assistance as we prepare for our UIL Contests that begin on October 17th. This is a required and graded event that is mandatory for all eligible members of The Spirit of OHS Marching Band. Students need to be at the Band Hall no later than 2:45pm Saturday and will finish the clinic by about 6:00pm.
Prop Help:
As mentioned above we still need parents to help move our props for this season. Many of the parents who helped us this past week will be busy helping in the concession stand on Home Games. If you would be willing to help out please come to the track as you see the band members begin coming down from the stands during the 2nd Quarter of the Game.
