Odem Bands Schedule – Week of 11/1/2021
Thank you to everyone who helped us run a well-received Area Marching Contest yesterday! Directors offered many compliments to our facilities, as well as to our parent and student helpers! We hope this becomes an annual event for us. It is also showing the promise of doing a Pre-UIL contest earlier in the fall as a strong possibility too now that we have a great stadium facility to use for it! Thank you again to all of our volunteers – as you made it possible!
I’d also like take a moment to congratulate the Odem Owls on the perfect season, 10-0! We do not yet know for certain who the opponent will be in the first round, but we do know that we will be playing in Victoria on Friday, November 12th at 7:30pm. Students are required to attend playoff games as we support the team throughout their postseason run! The following week on the 19th we will likely have a game at the same time should we advance. (Week 3 would be on the 26th, the Friday of Thanksgiving Break. We need every student who is in town to attend if we advance that far!) We continue to perform at football games for as long as the Owls season continues! This week, on the 5th, is the Bye week for the team, and we have Friday evening off!
Our trip payments/deposits need to be coming in at this time. As of this time we have enough students to make the trip happen, but are at the point where more students attending will help the overall price for everyone. If you have been on the fence on whether or not to send a deposit in I hope you will! Our band trips have consistently been one of the most amazing experiences for our students over the years! We can take those payments in the band hall, but we do need ALL parents, even if you are paying us via check to Owl Band Boosters, to go to this website: https://www.toursandtravelpaytrip.com/Reservation/TripReservation/247and create a ‘New Reservation’ if you have not already done so. (I will be sending home letters with students who we know have not completed this yet tomorrow)
You may make one reservation for multiple kids, or chaperone/kid, there. The Tour Company wants to track forms and other payment information there. You may make online payments directly to them for a surcharge, or even mail payments directly to them (they do not charge a fee if you mail it directly).
This week in general will be a light week for us with events. We strongly encourage students to see their teachers after school this week for help in any classes they are struggling with! This six-weeks ends on Friday, and the first playoff game and All-Region Auditions will directly be affected by it. (The week of Thanksgiving Break on 10/19 and 10/26 all students are eligible due to the length of the break)
We want every student to still be eligible in the 3rd Six-Weeks!
