Odem Bands Schedule – Week of 11/6/2023
This week is Veteran’s Day, our first week of Playoffs, and we’ll be working with the HS to prepare for their Winter Concert and Region Auditions as well. JH is currently preparing for their region auditions as well, so while marching contests are finished, it will still be a busy week!
Friday the district will host our Annual Veteran’s Day Ceremony at 9am at Owl Stadium. Veteran’s and guests are welcome to attend! The HS Band will perform as part of the ceremony. That day will have an early release at 2:30pm for the Playoff Game vs. Natalia, hosted in Jourdanton.
HS Band Students will need to be at the band hall by 3:15pm, and we will depart as soon as we can get buses back to the school. We’ll eat dinner enroute to the game and then be there before the start. At halftime we are planning to do a joint performance with the Natalia HS band in honor of our Veteran’s. We should return home about 1am from the game this week.
That leaves us one additional week before Thanksgiving Break. I would ask that you please plan for us to have another playoff game on next Friday, 11/17 as well if the Owls win this week. Should they win the 17th, we would most likely play again on that following Friday.
The week after Thanksgiving Break will see our Odem JH students auditioning on Tuesday, the 28th for All-Region Auditions at Tuloso-Midway HS. HS Region Auditions will happen that Saturday, December 2nd in Alice. Students who earn spots in the All-Region Bands will travel to Kingsville on 12/8 and 12/9 for the Region Clinic/Concert at TAMUK.
We will have an evening rehearsal this Thursday for students attending the Cleveland Trip. Please help us make sure we have any student who is traveling to Cleveland present for that rehearsal as we read through potential music and get a jump start on our performance in one of the most acclaimed concert halls in the United States!
