Odem Bands Schedule Week of 11/30/2015
I hope this message finds you well as we begin the final push leading up to the Winter Break! Though marching season has come to a close, we still have a very busy few weeks ahead of us!
First up this week will be our band pictures that are tentatively scheduled for Wednesday. We will send home forms tomorrow with students for any parents that wish to order pictures or a print of the full composite photo for the HS Band. For now we are just planning on taking high school marching band pictures on that day. We may see if we can do junior high students on another day soon as well for any parents that would like pictures with their instruments. I know the TSI is being administered that day to many students; we will work with them to get their pictures done later this week if necessary.
All High School Students then need to turn in their uniform by Friday at 4pm. Please be sure to wash them prior to them being turned in.
The main event for this week though will be the All-Region Band Auditions on Saturday at West Oso HS. We will need all students at the Band Hall by 6:45am as we are running check-in for auditions a little bit differently this year. All eligible students that are in Symphonic Winds must audition on Saturday, as well as all High School Band Students that signed up for the contest. We will send home a bus with junior high students on it when the junior high contest has concluded. Students may be checked out from the contest by parents following their audition throughout the day. I anticipate the junior high bus will arrive back in Odem around 1:30-2:30pm.
The high school students will also come home when their contest is concluded. Last year we were able to leave around 5:30pm I believe. Students should bring some money to purchase lunch from the concession stand or bring a lunch with them that day. Please be sure that students have supplies such as reeds or valve oil before Saturday so that they are able to have the most successful audition they can.
We could use several parents to help on this day. If you are able and interested please contact me as soon as you can. Students should wear a band shirt and something comfortable for bottoms. They will be sitting in the hallways for a while prior to their audition. All students that earn a spot in the bands will participate in the Clinic/Concert the next Friday and Saturday the 11th and 12th.
Please remember that we do have our concert coming up on December 17th for the JH and HS Bands. The Jazz Band will perform on the 15th for their Annual Evening of Jazz. We will send more information out about both of those events later on this week.
Before I close this e-mail I wanted to say thank you to all of the parents that have so diligently helped our by riding buses to games with us this season! Your help has been invaluable throughout the season and we greatly appreciate it! Thank you as well to the parents that helped in the concession stand throughout the season, the Boosters had one of the most successful seasons I can remember for fundraising!!!
