We want to begin this week by congratulating the 18 Odem JH All-Region Band Members, 18 Odem HS All-Region Band Members, and 4 All-Area Odem HS members! Additionally, Odem JH had 5 1^st Chair members: Mercedes Cedillo – Oboe, Orion Velasquez – F Horn, Alysel Huerta – Trumpet, Constancio Bello – Euphonium, and Samantha Romero – Tuba! Odem HS also had Eva Garcia earn first chair on Trombone, and Benjamin Castaneda earn first chair on Trumpet! Please see the region section below for the students who made the groups! All students on that list will participate in the All-Region Clinic/Concert on Friday and Saturday in Kingsville at TAMUK.

We have that at the end of the week this week and two concerts! It’s arguably the busiest week of the year because of that! Tuesday night is our Odem JH Winter Concert at 6:30 pm in the Odem HS Cafetorium, and Thursday night is our Odem HS Winter Concert at 6:30 pm in the HS Cafetorium. Please see the information on the concert attire for both concerts.

On Tuesday, the Odem JH Beginning Band students need to be on stage at 5:45 pm to warm up, Odem JH Concert Band members need to be in the HS Band Hall at 6:00 pm, and Odem JH Symphonic Winds Members need to be waiting by Band Hall on Patio by 6:25 pm. 

For Thursday, Odem HS Band Students should be in the Band Hall by 6:00 pm for their warm-up. 

Please help us ensure students attend their concerts, as these are mandatory and required grades for all students in band Grades 6-12. All of the concerts are free, and we hope you will come out and hear the student’s hard work!

Concert Attire

All groups from 6^th-12^th have moved to the same concert attire requirements this year. Please see the information below:

Ladies: Black Blouse/Black Slacks/Dress Shoes (Blouses need to have some sort of sleeve that extends past the shoulder and should not be low cut)

Gentlemen: Black Long Sleeve Button-Down Shirt, Black Slacks, Black Dress Shoes (or HS Marching Band Shoes), Black Belt, and Black Socks.

All-Region Results

Please see the full list of our All-Region Band members below here! Students will leave at the end of the day on Friday for rehearsals in Kingsville, return that evening around 9:45 pm, and then need to be at the Band Halls by 7:00 am on Saturday to return for the second day. Our Junior High Students will perform at 2:00 pm on Saturday, the 1A-3A Symphonic Band will perform at 4:00 pm, 1A-3A Concert Band at 4:30 pm, and the 4A Concert Band will perform at 5:30 pm. 

We strongly encourage parents to come to watch their students perform, check them out, and then maybe take them to dinner to celebrate their amazing accomplishments! Mr. Williams will handle check-out on Saturday. We need this form completed (http://www.odembands.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Alternate-Travel-Transportation-Form-2022.pdf) and given to him, along with an additional sign-out sheet. Please complete both steps before departing with students. Contact either of us if you have additional questions!
