Odem Bands – Schedule Week of 2/17/2020
We would like to begin this week by congratulating Ethan Sanchez on his outstanding representation of Odem in the All-State Band! He placed 8th out of all of the trombones in the State of Texas in Classes 1A-3A! Ethan was also part of an outstanding All-State Concert yesterday – congratulations to him!
This week will be one of our last in preparation for the OHS Wind Ensemble and OJH Symphonic Winds for their upcoming performance at the UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Evaluation on March 5th. OHS Wind Ensemble students will have a rehearsal Thursday evening from 6:30pm-8:30pm to help be prepared for the event. Please help us ensure all Wind Ensemble members are in attendance. (If there is a school sporting event we excuse those students only)
All 7th-12th Grade Bands students will have their Pre-UIL Concert next Tuesday, on February 25th at 6:30pm. This includes OJH Concert Band, OJH Symphonic Winds, OHS Symphonic Band, and OHS Wind Ensemble. Each groups performance will follow the other in approximately 15 minute intervals.
The OJH Concert Band and OHS Symphonic Band will be performing at UIL on April 1st or 2nd.
Thank you to everyone who came out for our meeting last Tuesday. As they said last week, we need everyone to bring up the conversation of ‘Do you happen to need a mattress right now?’ Help us get the word out about the Mattress Fundraiser coming up on Saturday, March 7th! It’ll take place from 10am-5pm in the OHS Cafetorium that day. This fundraiser is completely dependent on us getting the word out to as many people as we can!
Mattress Fundraiser Details:
Our Mattress Fundraiser for the Odem High School Band is 3 weeks away, on Saturday, March 7th! 1 in 10 people buy a new mattress every year! Tell your friends, family, neighbors and coworkers about the sale. We want everyone to find at least 2 people to come check out the sale. We don’t have to sell products, fill out order forms, handle money or deliver anything, we just promote! Do you need to replace a bed in your home? Now is the time! The Odem High School Band is hosting a one-day Mattress Sale at Odem High School on Saturday, March 7th from 10AM-5PM. There will be over 30 name brand models on display for you to try. All beds are brand new, made to order, available in all sizes, and come with factory warranties! There will also be luxury pillows, mattress protectors, frames and even adjustable bases available as well! Delivery and haul away is available. Best of all, prices are less than retail stores! We would greatly appreciate your support!
Windi and Jazzi Fundraiser:
Our 3rd Annual Windi and Jazzi Fundraiser will be held on Friday, April 3rd. This year’s theme will be “Heroes” for the event. We have once again setup online ticket orders – you can order tickets here at http://odemhsband.ludus.com. There you can pick your seats out and pay easily. We will provide ticket order forms to students in March, or you may also visit the band hall to purchase them. Please help us sell this event out! (Tickets should be paid for via check/money order made out to Owl Band Boosters if paid for at band hall) Tickets are $15 for the longer outside tables, $20 for the middle circular tables, or $25 for the Back tables with chairs. (If you would like the $25 seats I recommend ordering online soon as there are only 14 more!)
Dinner is going to be Fried Fish or Chicken with sides and dessert provided.
We will need basket items for the silent auction that will be held at Windi and Jazzi. The Boosters are also seeking donations of restaurant gift cards and other items to also include and bundle in the silent auction. If you can help with obtaining these donations please contact Mrs. Mandi Edwards. We will provide the students themes for baskets in the next couple of weeks.
Windi and Jazzi is a great event that has grown each year. Please help support this event with a great meal and great music!
