Odem Bands Schedule – Week of 2-25-2019

It’s hard to believe but we’re already finishing February! March and April are very busy months so I ask that you please look at the calendar of events below and please keep track of the upcoming events. Please remember that performances are mandatory graded events!

This week we have ten high school students who have been chosen to participate in the TAMUCC Islander Honor Band this weekend! Joey Aguirre, Zenaida Lara, Shiana Montoya, Angelyna Beltran, Abaigeal Tovar, Christina Montoya, Landon Garza, Clara Sanchez, Jennifer Garcia, Natalie Stanley will participate in rehearsals on Friday and Saturday, with a joint performance with the TAMUCC Wind Symphony on Saturday evening at 7:30pm at the TAMUCC Performing Arts Center. Admission is Free! Those students need to take $25 for the fee for the Honor Band with them on Friday. Cash or check to TAMUCC Music Department.

This six weeks is an important one for the bands with grades. Please help us to encourage your students to turn in their work in classes. We have some students who have been struggling in some classes and would be ineligible for contest if we have them repeat that this six-weeks. Much of the time it is a result of students not completing makeup work from absences – please make sure students speak to their teachers and complete that work when they aren’t at school! This time of year gets very busy for students involved in activities at the school!

TAMUCC Honor Band Details

Students will leave for TAMUCC after band class. We will most likely eat lunch at the cafeteria like we did last year, students will need to bring money for that meal. Students will also need to bring money for lunch on Saturday – we will cover dinner on Saturday for the students. They will need to bring their concert clothes Saturday morning to change into before the concert. (Standard Odem Concert Black)

7:45am: Depart School
9:00am-11:00am: Rehearsal
11:00am-12:00pm: Sectional with TAMUCC Faculty
12:00pm-1:30pm: Lunch
1:30pm-2:30pm: Masterclasses with TAMUCC Faculty
2:30pm-5:00pm: Rehearsal
5:00pm-7:00pm: Dinner
7:30pm: Concert Begins
