Odem Bands Schedule: Week of 2/27/2017

I hope this message finds you well as we prepare to enter March already! Below you will find several reminders of upcoming events. One item of particular note is that we have adjusted our Pre-UIL Contest Concert back to March 20th due to some other conflicts. At present we plan on OJH Symphonic Winds, OJH Concert Band, OHS Screeching Owl Jazz Band, OHS Symphonic Band, and the OHS Wind Ensemble performing on this concert. This concert will begin at 6:30pm and be held in the Cafetorium.

Spring Band Fees Due:

Spring Band Fees for students grades 7-12 are due at the end of this week if they were not waived for a parent working in the concession stand. That fee is $50 and is made payable to OEISD. Please contact us if you have any questions/concerns. There is a discount for families with multiple students in the Odem Band program, please contact us if you have further questions.

TAMUCC Islander Honor Band:

Saturday/Sunday the TAMUCC Bands will sponsor their annual honors band for the OHS students who were selected for the band. Students should bring the $25 fee for the group and money for lunch on Saturday/Dinner on Sunday. Any checks for the Fee are made out to TAMUCC Music Department. Students need to be at the band hall no later than 7:40am on Saturday and we will return that afternoon following the rehearsal that ends at 5pm, so we should arrive in Odem about 5:45pm or so. Sunday students should be at the band hall by 12:30pm. The concert begins at 7:30pm and the bus should return approximately by 9:30pm.

April 8th Marches of the Past Fundraiser:

On April 8th we will be hosting our ‘Marches of the Past Fundraiser’ evening of dinner and showing past performances of The Spirit of OHS from the 1970’s to the present. Tickets will presale for $15/person and we will sell any remaining tickets at the door for $20. Additionally that evening we plan to have a silent auction too. Dinner will be Spaghetti, Salad and Breadsticks (Salad/Breadsticks from Olive Garden), and dessert.
We will ask all high school students to see at least 2 tickets each. The years we believe we have of marching shows include; 1960s? 1970-1974, 1977, 1978, 1980, and about 4-5 more reels that are unlabeled. We have the possibility of obtaining some late 80’s/early90’s I believe too, in addition to 2007-Present. We are having the film digitized currently, so hopefully we’ll have a firmer idea of what we have once that has returned. The Boosters are also seeking any donations for Silent Auction items, please contact us if you or your business have any items to donate.

Monday: Band Hall Open until 4:00pm for Instrument Pickup
Tuesday: Band Hall Open until 4:30pm for Practice
Wednesday: Band Hall Open until 4:30pm for Practice
Thursday: Band Hall Open until 4:30pm for Practice
Friday: Band Hall Open until 4:00pm for Instrument Pickup
Saturday: TAMUCC Honor Band Students at Band Hall by 7:40am, Return about 5:45pm
Sunday: TAMUCC Honor Band Students at Band Hall by 12:30pm, concert begins at 7:30pm
