Odem Bands Schedule – Week of 3/2/2020

Thank you to everyone who attended our Pre-UIL Concert last week! We received a great deal of feedback from the judges to help us make our final push towards the UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Evaluations. OHS Wind Ensemble and the OJH Symphonic Winds perform this Thursday in Goliad. The OJH Symphonic Winds perform at 11:30am and Sight-Read about 11:55am. The OHS Wind Ensemble performs at 3:10pm, and Sight-Read about 3:40pm. Parents are welcome to attend the performance at the auditorium (admission is free) and are also allowed to go with us to Sight-Reading in their band hall. Please note that audio and video recording, as well as photos are forbidden in the sight-reading room.

Students of both groups will depart at 9am dressed in their concert clothes. OJH Symphonic Winds should return by 2pm, and the OHS Wind Ensemble should return before 5:30pm.

Saturday we will then have our Mattress Fundraiser in the OHS Cafetorium. Please make sure you say you are going on the Facebook event if you have not already. We need 20 more people to say they are going, and a total of 3,000 people invited to get an extra $250 bonus! https://www.facebook.com/events/676222259564612/

The fundraiser runs from 10am-5pm. We will need students to help through the day, as well as some help on Friday after the afternoon meal service to get tables moved out of the room in preparation for Saturday. That help will be needed about 4:45pm-5:15pm.

OJH Student Concert Attire:

Gentlemen: White Button Down Shirt, Black Slacks, Black Belt, Black Dress Shoes, Black Socks, and tie (Preferably solid Navy Blue)

Ladies: Black Blouse, Black Slacks, Black shoes.

Concert Attire OHS Students:

Gentlemen: Black Long Sleeve Button Down Shirt (with top button unbuttoned), Black Slacks, Long Black Socks, Black Dress Shoes.

Ladies: Black Blouse, Black Slacks, Black shoes. (All Black, no colors)

Mattress Fundraiser Details:

The Mattress Fundraiser is this weekend!!!! 1 in 10 people buy a new mattress every year! Tell your friends, family, neighbors and coworkers about the sale.  We want everyone to find at least 2 people to come check out the sale. We need everyone to do the following things this week:
·         Pass out flyers at work, church, sporting events, and in your neighborhood. 
·         JOIN the Facebook event and INVITE your friends!  We need 100 people to say they are going to the event to earn a bonus from the company! http://bit.ly/OdemBand2020.

·         Send an email to at least 10 people with the following message:

We will have a mattress showroom with over 30 floor models set up at Odem High School this Saturday from 10am-5pm.  All beds are available in all sizes, brand new, made to order, and come with factory warranties.  In addition, we will have sheets, pillows, mattress protectors, and even adjustable power bases!!!  All sales benefit the Odem High School Band Program!

Windi and Jazzi Fundraiser:

Our 3rd Annual Windi and Jazzi Fundraiser will be held on Friday, April 3rd. This year’s theme will be “Heroes” for the event. We have once again setup online ticket orders – you can order tickets here at http://odemhsband.ludus.com. There you can pick your seats out and pay easily. We will provide ticket order forms to students in March, or you may also visit the band hall to purchase them. Please help us sell this event out! (Tickets should be paid for via check/money order made out to Owl Band Boosters if paid for at band hall) Tickets are $15 for the longer outside tables, $20 for the middle circular tables, or $25 for the Back tables with chairs. (If you would like the $25 seats I recommend ordering online soon as there are only 14 more!)

Dinner is going to be Fried Fish or Chicken with sides and dessert provided.

We will need basket items for the silent auction that will be held at Windi and Jazzi. The Boosters are also seeking donations of restaurant gift cards and other items to also include and bundle in the silent auction. If you can help with obtaining these donations please contact Mrs. Mandi Edwards. We will provide the students themes for baskets in the next couple of weeks.

Windi and Jazzi is a great event that has grown each year. Please help support this event with a great meal and great music!
