Odem Bands Schedule – Week of 3/20/2023
We hope this message finds everyone well and rested from Spring Break! Now that we are back we begin the push to the end of the year which will be quite busy! Students will get their progress report grades this week, please help encourage them on their coursework, particularly HS and Symphonic Winds members have events in April and May that will be dependent on 5th 6-Weeks Eligibility!
Please note that we do have our Pre-UIL Concert next Monday at 5 pm in the HS Cafetorium. We are starting with the JH Concert Band, then the JH Symphonic Winds, HS Symphonic Band, and finally HS Wind Ensemble. The earlier start time is necessary to help out with getting our students to JH softball/baseball games. For JH students in particular if they can’t get a ride back they are encouraged to bring their concert clothes and go to the JH Band Hall after school for a while and change. We will open the doors for audience members at 4:30 pm. The concert should conclude by 6:40 pm at the latest for the HS Wind Ensemble.
We also have Windi and Jazzi coming up here soon. I have listed the basket information in the section below, but we ask every band student in Grades 6-12 to please bring one $10 item to put into the silent auction baskets for their section (HS) or grade for JH. The silent auction component of Windi and Jazzi tends to be the best-performing part of our fundraiser. We will also accept higher-value donations, but if every student brings one $10 item in their theme, we can create a series of great items to auction. We ask that students bring in their $10 item by next Thursday, March 30th. This will ensure we have time to create the baskets and hopefully run simultaneous online bidding as we did a couple of years ago!
We are also seeking out donations of gift cards from restaurants, other business donations, etc. if you work for a company that might be able to help support the bands there! The Booster officers also could use some help seeking those out, if you might have some time to lend a hand with phone calls or stopping by businesses please contact Mrs. Mandi Edwards.
Windi and Jazzi tickets are on sale now! Our annual Dinner/Concert Fundraiser will be held on May 6th at 5:30 pm in the Odem HS Cafetorium. This year’s theme is ‘Comedy Tonight,’ and will feature tributes to the slapstick eras of musical comedy! You may pre-purchase tickets here: http://odemhsband.ludus.com
Finally, we will have our postponed Booster Meeting this Tuesday at 7 pm in the HS Cafetorium. We are in need of several new officers for the coming year – please come and volunteer so we can ensure the future success of the boosters and the band program!

March Trip payments should be made soon this month. Please make sure arrangements are made to pay directly to Bob Rogers Travel through the website, or via check/money order to Owl Band Boosters, and we’ll forward it to them! We do have a number of registered students who have not yet made payments/deposits. Please take care of that no later than next month so we can ensure an accurate count!
