Odem Bands Schedule – Week of 3/22/2021
This year is truly flying by here! Tomorrow night (Monday) we will be having our annual Pre-UIL Concert. Due to trying to manage all of the elements of safety for this event, we will be streaming this one online without an in-person audience. You may find the stream on the Owl Band Boosters Facebook Group page.
We are bringing in three TMAA certified judges to come evaluate us for this and help us prepare for our final steps on our UIL prep. In order to assist with some other events going on we are going to begin the performance at 5pm with the OJH Symphonic Winds, 5:30pm with the OHS Symphonic Band, and 6pm with the OHS Wind Ensemble. Odem JH Symphonic Winds members should bring their dress clothes to school and they will change prior to the performance. For the JH Baseball and Softball games that evening Coach Pfluger and Coach Rivera are aware of our event and the students will go to their game after their performance.
OJH Symphonic Winds should be at the HS dressed in their clothes no later than 4:25pm to begin warm-up! OJH Symphonic Band needs to be seated in HS Band Hall ready to go by 4:45pm, and the Odem HS Wind Ensemble needs to be on the patio ready to go by 5:15pm.
Students need to be attired in their concert clothes. All OHS Students wear Black Blouse/Button Down Shirt and Slacks, Black Dress Shoes, Black Socks. Odem JH Ladies is Black Blouse/Black Slacks, and Odem JH Gentlemen White Button-Down Shirt, Tie, and Black Slacks/Dress Shoes.
Windi and Jazzi
Windi and Jazzi will take place on April 17th, this will be our first event with an audience indoors. Tickets are to be purchased online through http://odemhsband.ludus.com/ or they may be purchased through the band directors. The online software will automatically let you select your seats and blocks out seats around you for social distancing purposes. Each ticket includes Dinner (Fried Chicken or Steak), Live Music, and Dessert. We will also hold a silent auction that will be held online simultaneously for anyone who cannot attend. If we sell out of one performance too early, we may add a second performance. I would advise purchasing your tickets early!
For now, our first step though is baskets for our silent auction. Our Boosters have decided this year to do everything based on grade level. Please see below for your students’ class. We are looking for one item from every student, generally around a $10 value or so. (More is fine, but if everyone brings in one item around $10 it makes for a nice basket when assembled!)
We still need these items! Students should please bring an item by tomorrow if they have not already done so!
6th Grade (Class of 2027): Crafts (Painting Supplies, Sewing Supplies, Little Craft Projects, etc.)
7th Grade (Class of 2026): Outdoors (Grilling Utensils, Sports Equipment, Camping Equipment, etc)
8th Grade (Class of 2025): Kitchen (Gadgets, Pans, Spices, Utensils, Plates, etc.)
9th Grade (Class of 2024): Spa (Facial Masks, Scented Candles, Soaps, Lotions, etc.)
10th Grade (Class of 2023): Family Game Night (Cards, Board Games, Puzzles, Popcorn, etc.)
11th Grade (Class of 2022): Sweets (Candy, Desserts, Cake Mixes, etc.)
12th Grade (Class of 2021): Beach/Pool (Blankets, Beach toys, Chairs, Beach Balls, etc.)
Please note that traditionally Windi and Jazzi is the second biggest fundraiser of the year for the Owl Band Boosters. Those funds help the whole band program in Grades 6-12. It’s important that everyone help out by bringing at least one item for their basket!
