Odem Bands Schedule – Week of 3/7/2022

Yesterday the Odem HS Wind Ensemble had a great experience performing their program on the TAMUCC Performing Arts Center stage, and then getting great feedback from three of their professors. We hope it was a great experience for all of our students! 

This is our final week leading into Spring Break, so there’s a little bit of gap of events we’ll have. Our next event is the Pre-UIL Concert for Odem JH Concert Band and Symphonic Winds, and the Odem HS Symphonic Band and Wind Ensembles on Monday, March 28th. The JH Bands will begin their performances at 5pm, and the HS Bands will go onto stage beginning about 6pm. Students will need to be dressed in their Concert Dress attire. We ask that parents make sure that students have the correct items to wear. If for some reason there are issues with finding anything, please contact us and we may be able to help! I have included the rest of this year’s big dates now at the bottom of this email. 

Next for our HS Band Students trip to Florida there are a number of trip deadlines approaching. Students need to be paid up to at least $700 in their accounts by the end of this week or the company we are going through will drop them from the trip. If you have questions or concerns on this please let us know. I will send out another trip statement with students this week. We will take in person payments at school/the booster meeting on Tuesday night. Please make sure that we get those payments by Tuesday if at all possible. Payments may also be paid online directly to TMF Tours for a small fee.

Below in the section about Windi and Jazzi you will find the themes for each section at the high school, and grades at the JH basket. We build baskets with one item from each student within a theme and then auction it off at our silent auction. This is one of our largest fundraisers outside of the concession stand for the boosters each year. We ask that you please help us bring a $10 item within the theme. We will accept larger items/donations too if you know of anyone that might be able to contribute! We are asking for these items to be brought in by Thursday of this week if at all possible!

Windi and Jazzi 2022

Tickets are now available for Windi and Jazzi that will be held on May 7th here at this site: https://odemhsband.ludus.com/index.php  This has become an annual dinner/concert to benefit the bands that we look forward to presenting each year! This year’s theme is ‘Night On Broadway’ and will feature music from a number of hit musicals, as well as some other works performed by the HS Band Students. This event benefits the Band Boosters and helps us raise funds program wide by ticket sales and the silent auction we hold simultaneously. Please be on the lookout for information about this event coming soon, and we ask that if you have a business that you own or work for that might be able to contribute that you reach out to them. 

We will be asking each student in grades 6-12 to help with contributing one item to baskets that we will be auctioning off by theme. We would like items turned into the Band Halls by Thursday, March 10th.

HS Euphoniums – Sports Basket (Games, Memorabilia, Sports Tickets, Equipment, etc.)

HS Percussion – Baking Basket (Cake Mixes, Recipes, Rolling Pins, Cake Pans, Muffin Pans, etc.)
Odem JH 6th Graders – Gardening Basket (Small Shovels, Seeds, Gloves, Hats, etc.)
Odem JH 7th Graders – Camping Basket (Folding Chairs, Camping Gear, Campfire Accessories, Compasses, Hats, Tent accessories, etc.)
Odem JH 8th Graders – BBQ Basket (BBQ Sauces, Tongs/Spatulas, Recipes, Aprons, Grill Accessories, Canned items, Condiments, etc.) 

This event has done quite well for us in the past! Tickets are $15-$25 per ticket depending on the seating type/location, and comes with a choice of Chicken Fried Steak or Chicken, Sides, a drink, and dessert along with the great entertainment! Please help us make this the best year yet for this event!

A sixth trip payment should have been made this month. If you haven’t turned that in please do so! The link below will allow you to make payments directly to them.


You may also pay the Owl Band Boosters via Check or Money Order turned into the Band Hall Office or brought to the Band Booster Meeting next Tuesday.
