Odem Bands Schedule Week of 3/21/2016
I hope this message finds you well as we find our Spring Break coming to a close. Please remind your students to bring their instruments back to school tomorrow. This is the last ‘slow’ week for the Odem Bands for a while. Please see below for the schedule for the week and individual sections that may apply to your student.
School Board Meeting:
Monday night at the School Board Meeting at 6:30pm we will be recognizing our All-Stater, Medalists from Solo and Ensemble (JH and HS), and also recognize our seven students who have advanced to the State Solo and Ensemble Contest at the end of next month.
Pre-UIL Contest Concert:
Please remember that we have moved our date up to Thursday, March 31st. This is a mandatory performance for the OJH Symphonic Winds, OHS Symphonic Band, and OHS Wind Ensemble where we will have judges in to help us make our final preparations into contest. The concert will begin at a time to be set by the middle of this week. Most likely we will keep our traditional 6:30pm start time.
Screeching Owl Jazz Band at TAMUK Jazz Festival – April 2nd:
We are down to our final two weeks before the OHS Jazz Band attends the TAMUK Jazz Festival. I will have more details for our itinerary this week for those members. All members must perform that morning and may be picked up following the performance. We perform 1st on Saturday morning. That afternoon there is a clinic with a guest artist (Trumpet Player) and a concert featuring them and the awards ceremony that night.
Carnegie Hall Trip:
All student and chaperone accounts must be paid in full by April 1st. It is imperative that this be done so we may take care of our final payments to companies that are due. We will have a rehearsal this Thursday from 6:30pm-8:30pm. Please note that we have changed our recording date for the final DCINY Approval of our performance on Saturday, April 9th. From 1pm-3pm we will make our recording of our pieces and then have our parent meeting and sponsor meetings following that. Please note every student must be present for this afternoon! I apologize for having to reschedule from our original calendar for this date. Band Hall Schedule:
Monday: Open until 4:15pm
Tuesday: Open until 5:00pm – Guard Practice
Wednesday: Open until 4:30pm – Guard Practice
Thursday: Open until 4:15pm, and then 5:30pm-End of Carnegie Rehearsal at 8:30pm
Friday: Open until 4:00pm
