Odem Bands Schedule – Week of 4/25/2022
First of all I would like to thank parents for helping us get students to school and ready for UIL this past week. Despite some odd departure times, we had every student who should have been with us at UIL!
Our bands had great performances, and it was great to again be able to take them to perform at UIL Concert and Sight-Reading. Ultimately the Odem JH Concert Band earned a Rating of Good for their Concert Performance, and Excellent in Sight-Reading, and the Odem JH Symphonic Winds earned a rating of Excellent on stage, and Superior in Sight-Reading. Odem HS Symphonic Band earned a rating of Excellenton Stage, and Excellent in Sight-Reading. Our Odem HS Wind Ensemble earned an overall rating of Excellenton the stage, and Superior in Sight-Reading. The judging panel we had this year was the toughest we’ve had in nearly a decade, but we are incredibly proud of our students for their hard work throughout this spring!
This week is a big week for jazz in our region. On Friday we will have a group represent us at the South Coast Jazz Festival in Robstown. Odem will perform at 5:50, and we will depart after school around 3:45 with those students. We will return after the directors’ band performance around 8:45pm I would guess. Saturday our two high school, and one JH All-Region Jazz members will rehearse and perform in Robstown for the All-Region Jazz Clinic Concert.
That brings us right to May 7th next, which is Windi and Jazzi! We will be planning on a dress rehearsal after school from 3:30pm-5:30pm for the concert. All eligible HS Band students are required to perform for Windi and Jazzi, and will need to be at the rehearsal unless they make prior arrangements with us. For our HS Band Students attending the trip to Florida, there has been a price increase passed onto us at this time. It’s not the worst that it could be, but we are looking at the total moving to $950/student as opposed to $900 for the total we had priced the trip at. As of the last time I checked on the TMF portal this had not been corrected, but I will send out updated statements this week. Due to the Owl Band Booster Donation of $105/student, it means that their total contribution needs to be $845. We need this paid by May 2nd at the latest to be able to purchase tickets and finalize our trip. Please contact me if this is an issue so we can work out a solution!
Room lists were made and turned in, so we are on the hook for the full amounts at this time. At this time trip payments may be sent in a check/money order made out to TMF Tours and brought to Mr. Rash, or they may be paid directly through TMF Tours Website! There will be a MANDATORY TRIP MEETING for students and a parent on Tuesday, May 3rd at 7pm in the HS Cafetorium. We will go over trip rules, the final itinerary, packing information, and answer questions at that time.
2022 Summer Band Schedule
You may find our 2022 Summer Band Schedule linked below, as well as listed our major competition dates for the fall at the bottom. Please note that Summer Band is mandatory for participation in The Spirit of OHS! If a conflict arises with a date we ask that you reach out to us early so we can be aware, and maybe make something work out to make multiple things happen. We try and be as flexible as possible on many things, but with marching band it is important to have every spot on the field covered. (Any missing members in drill can result in deductions for us as a band at contests!)

Windi and Jazzi 2022
Tickets are now available for Windi and Jazzi that will be held on May 7th here at this site: https://odemhsband.ludus.com/index.php This has become an annual dinner/concert to benefit the bands that we look forward to presenting each year! This year’s theme is ‘Night On Broadway’ and will feature music from a number of hit musicals, as well as some other works performed by the HS Band Students. This event benefits the Band Boosters and helps us raise funds program wide by ticket sales and the silent auction we hold simultaneously. We need to be selling tickets at this point. Please pass word onto friends/family about this great event. Tickets are purchased online through the link above or may be purchased from the Band Hall Office.
Tickets are $15-$25 per ticket depending on the seating type/location, and comes with a choice of Chicken Fried Steak or Chicken, Sides, a drink, and dessert along with the great entertainment! Please help us make this the best year yet for this event!

Final trip payments are past due. If you haven’t turned that in please do so! The link below will allow you to make payments directly to them.
