Odem Bands Schedule – Week of 4/28/2025
We begin May in the middle of this week, which is one of the busiest times of year for the bands! This week, on Friday, we have two events: the JH 7th-8th Grade Band Trip to Funtrackers (Departing at 12:15 pm, returning by 3 pm) and the South Coast Jazz Festival that evening at Tuloso-Midway Middle School. The Screeching Owl Jazz Band will perform at ~6:20 pm that night, and students will stay until the festival concludes around 9 pm with a director’s band performance.
On Saturday we host our 7th Annual Windi and Jazzi Dinner/Concert Fundraiser. The event begins at 5:30 pm, and tickets include the concert, chicken fried steak or chicken, sides, drinks, and dessert. We hope you will come join us for ‘Magical Adventures’ with music from the Screeching Owl Jazz Band, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Chronicles of Narnia, Wizard of Oz, and more! https://odemhsband.ludus.com/ Tickets are still available! If possible please purchase by Tuesday so we can let our caterer know if we need to order additional meals. A limited number of tickets will be available at the door.
Finally, we need officers for next year for the Owl Band Boosters. (Voting takes place in May.) We have a couple of graduating officers this year, and we ask that you consider volunteering your time to help the bands. The Owl Band Boosters are incredibly important in maintaining the Odem Bands’ success! Spring Band Fees
Spring Band Fees are now past due at both the High School for all band students and at the JH for 7th/8th grade band Students. This fee, $25/student, helps offset expenses in the spring for the program. Checks or money Orders should be made payable to OEISD—no cash, please! Statements were emailed last week about outstanding fees, please contact us about any questions or concerns.
2026 Florida Trip
For all trip participants for 2026, please ensure you have registered on the Bob Rogers Travel site. Current 8th-11th 11th-grade band students are eligible to travel on this, and we can still add students. I show that we are currently just two travelers short of making the next price breakpoint that will drop the trip cost by about $200. If you have considered signing up but haven’t, please do so now! In two weeks, we will make a payment from the boosters to lower the trip cost for every registered/deposited student from the boosters.

Payment options and forms are handled through their website there. I encourage students to attend this trip; it will be an amazing experience for them, and it is only really possible for most of them as a group like this!
