Odem Bands Schedule – Week of 4/9/2022
First of all I would like to extend a big Thank You to everyone who helped make Windi and Jazzi a success this year! We hope it was a fun event for those of you who attended, and look forward to having the event again next year!
The next four weeks are going to be packed with events for our students in the leadup to summer. This week for the high school students we have drumline auditions on Wednesday after school, and Drum Major/Guard Tryouts on Friday after school.
The Odem JH Symphonic Winds are traveling to perform in a festival on Friday at Del Mar College. Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend their performance at 11am! They will travel that morning and return after lunch to their classes.
Our next event will be the following Monday, May 16th, when we hold the annual Odem HS and Odem JH Symphonic Winds Concert. Symphonic Winds members will need to be on stage by 5:45pm for warm-up. HS Symphonic Band Members in the Band Hall by 6:15pm, and HS Wind Ensemble members ready to go into warm-up in the Band Hall at 6:35pm.
The next evening on Tuesday, the 17th, we will have the Odem JH Concert Band and Beginning Band Concert beginning at 6:30pm. Beginning Band Members need to be in their seats on stage at 5:45pm, and JH Concert Band Members need to be in the Band Hall for warm-up by 6pm.
All concerts are mandatory and graded events! Please ensure students arrive on time and are dressed in their concert clothes.
Last week we held our final trip meeting for students traveling to Florida. We had a few people miss that meeting. I must meet with every single student with a parent/guardian! I have one scheduled makeup meeting for 4:45pm on Tuesday if that works for you. Otherwise please email me by Wednesday to schedule a makeup meeting. For those who attended I do need forms returned by Friday of this week!
2022 Summer Band Schedule
You may find our 2022 Summer Band Schedule linked below, as well as listed our major competition dates for the fall at the bottom. Please note that Summer Band is mandatory for participation in The Spirit of OHS! If a conflict arises with a date we ask that you reach out to us early so we can be aware, and maybe make something work out to make multiple things happen. We try and be as flexible as possible on many things, but with marching band it is important to have every spot on the field covered. (Any missing members in drill can result in deductions for us as a band at contests!)
Please help us make sure students have the best possibility of being successful this next year!
