Odem Bands Schedule Week of 4/17/2017
I hope this message finds you well! I would like to begin by congratulate our bands that went to contest last week on an outstanding job! The Odem HS Symphonic Band began things by earning a rating of Excellent on stage (1-2-2) and a rating of Superior (1-1-2) in Sight-Reading. The Odem JH Symphonic Winds followed them by earning their 4th Consecutive Sweepstakes with a Superior on Stage (2-1-1) and Sightreading (1-1-1). Thursday we concluded the event with the Odem High School Wind Ensemble earning their 4th Consecutive Sweepstakes rating as well with 1’s being earned from every judge at the event. Both the Odem High School and Odem Junior High streaks are now the longest run of Sweepstakes awards in Odem’s History!
These students are to be congratulate on outstanding performances!
Our week this week will be quiet without a lot of events. Some things to note will be Colorguard and Drum Major practices Tuesday and Thursday after school. Leadership students will meet Thursday during lunch. Additionally I was excited to receive our final parts and scores for our 2017 Marching Show yesterday that we will read tomorrow in class for the first time. We look forward to premiering a movement or two from the show at our JH Symphonic Winds and HS Bands Spring Concert on May 11th.

Friday, April 28th: South Coast Jazz Festival (Orange Grove)
Saturday, April 29th: ATSSB Region 14 Jazz Clinic/Concert (MS and HS Jazz Band Students Selected by Auditions)
Wednesday, May 3rd: After school rehearsal for Beginning Band
Thursday, May 4th: Beginning Band and OJH Concert Band Spring Concert (Cafetorium 6:30pm)
Friday, May 5th: Drum Major and Colorguard Tryouts
Tuesday, May 9th: OHS Screeching Owl Jazz Band Spring Evening of Jazz (Cafetorium 7:00pm)
Thursday, May 11th: OJH Symphonic Winds and OHS Bands Spring Concert (Old HS Gym 6:30pm)
Friday, May 26th: Graduation Performance (OHS and OJH Symphonic Winds)

Monday: No School
Tuesday: Colorguard and Drum Major Practice after school until 5pm
Wednesday: Band Hall Open until 4:30pm
Thursday: Colorguard and Drum Major Practice after school until 5pm
Friday: Band Hall Open until 4:00pm
