Odem Bands Schedule Week of 4/18/2016 – UIL Contest

This week finds us arriving at our UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Contest for the bands. This will be our main focus as we go through the week this week. The contest site is at Sinton HS Auditorium. You are cordially invited to attend if you are able, and you may also attend the sight-reading contest as well, just please keep in mind that pictures and recording of any type is forbidden in the Sight-Reading Room. Please look below for each bands schedule. We have a few members who were not in attendance at the recording session on the 9th. For any student/parent who was not there at the time you must schedule a meeting with me by next Thursday, April 28th to make up that meeting individually.

The members of the Odem Junior High Symphonic Winds will attend contest on Wednesday (20th), with their contest performance held at 4:00pm. The Symphonic Winds members will be called out of class at approximately 12:45pm and will have a chance to change into their concert attire then. Gentlemen should be wearing their white button down shirts, black slacks, tie (preferably solid navy), black dress shoes, and black socks. Ladies should wear a black blouse and black slacks. No skirts should be worn, and ladies should keep in mind that there is a fair amount of walking in their choice of black shoes.

Students should return from the contest sometime around 5:30pm to the school.

The members of the Odem HS Symphonic Band will need to report to the Band Hall by 7:40am dressed in their concert clothes. They will perform at 9:45am Wednesday (20th) as the first group from Odem to perform. They will return around 5th period and return to classes after that. High school attire for Gentlemen is black button down dress shirt, black slacks, black socks, and black dress shoes. Ladies should wear a black blouse and black slacks. No skirts should be worn, and ladies should keep in mind that there is a fair amount of walking in their choice of black shoes.

The Odem High School Wind Ensemble performs at 1:05pm Thursday (21st). Students will be pulled from their classes at the beginning of 2nd period and will have a chance to change before being fed lunch and heading to Sinton. I believe we will return around 2:30-3:00pm from the competition. Students will most likely not return to their classes that day.

Please check with your student that they have appropriate clothing that still fits them prior to the day of contest.
