Odem Bands Schedule Week of 4/24/2017
I hope this message finds you well as we enter three very busy weeks for the Odem Bands. Please take note of the dates and events below as it will help us avoid possible conflicts. The first item up this week will be the conclusion of 5th Grade Mouthpiece Testing. Mr. Williams has been going down to the elementary this past week to work with them and hopefully we’ll finish up with the students we’ve missed early in this week. After school on Monday (tomorrow) we will audition 5th Graders for beginning percussion. Please pass the word if you know 5th graders that may be interested.
Another big item to note is the 6th Grade Beginning Band Dress Rehearsal. That will be held Monday May 1st after school. The rehearsal is a mandatory graded rehearsal for all beginning band students and should last until 5pm. Please make arrangements for rides as needed.
South Coast Jazz Festival:
The Odem HS Screeching Owl Jazz Band will join Goliad HS at Orange Grove HS for our annual Small School Jazz Festival. The performances will begin with the Goliad HS Jazz Band at 6:30pm, followed by Odem HS, and then Orange Grove will close the evening. Please come help us celebrate jazz in the small schools!
ATSSB Region XIV Jazz Clinic/Concert:
The Odem HS and Odem JH students who have been selected for the ATSSB All-Region Jazz Bands will travel to Goliad on Saturday. Students should arrive at the Band Hall no later than 7:20am that morning. The Band Hall will open at 7am. The concert will begin at 5pm at the Goliad HS Auditorium. More details will be given to those students before the middle of the week. Please come see the students performances that evening! You may sign out your students following the concert. Please note that the order of the concert is changed this year: HS Jazz Ensemble (Top Group), then the MS Big Band, and then the HS Jazz Band (Second Group) will perform.

Friday, May 5th: Drum Major and Colorguard Tryouts
Tuesday, May 9th: OHS Screeching Owl Jazz Band Spring Evening of Jazz (Cafetorium 7:00pm)
Thursday, May 11th: OJH Symphonic Winds and OHS Bands Spring Concert (Old HS Gym 6:30pm)
Friday, May 26th: Graduation Performance (OHS and OJH Symphonic Winds)
